WWE NXT Results
August 21, 2019
We’re back at Full Sail University for the first time since NXT Takeover: Toronto. Mauro Ranallo welcomes us on commentary is joined by Nigel McGuinness and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.
All four members of the Undisputed Era are out to start the show. Adam Cole says he proved once and for all that he is the single greatest NXT Champion in history. If there was a Mount Rushmore of NXT you wouldn’t see names like Shinsuke Nakamura or Seth Rollins, you would see all four of them.
Roderick Strong takes the mic and says that Velveteen Dream took the easy way out at Takeover by pinning Pete Dunne, and says he’ll finish what he started and fulfill his destiny by becoming the North American champion. Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly show clips from Takeover where Kyle was the legal, but the referee counted three on Fish, meaning they should be champions right now. They demand that William Regal come out and make things right.
As the Undisputed Era is making their way back up the ramp they are confronted by Jordan Myles, who has the NXT Breakout Tournament contract in his eyes. Cole tells him he must be joking, because Myles isn’t in his league and has no chance of ever becoming NXT Champion while it’s around his waist. Cole says there is nothing more detrimental than wasting an opportunity, and promises to make his career an “Undisputed Failure” if he doesn’t walk away. Myles drops the contract in front of the champion, gives him a peace sign and backs away with a big smile on his face. The match is on!
We are shown footage from earlier in the day where Shane Thorne approaches Bronson Reed at the Performance Center. He basically calls him a disgrace for losing in the NXT Breakout Tournament after how hard he worked to get the big man there – I guess because they’re both Australian. Reed gets in his face and tells him to meet him in the ring, which Shane says is a very bad idea.
DAMIAN PRIEST vs. MANSOOR
Good luck, Mansoor. Priest takes him to the ropes and starts drilling knees into his opponent’s midsection over and over again. He tosses him over the ropes but Mansoor skins the cat, slides under the big man, but turns around into a nasty right hook that knocked him out cold. Priest got a little cocky and slowly picked him up, teasing his finisher, but Mansoor rolled him up with a surprise small package for a close nearfall. Mansoor with a step-up enzuigiri before sending Priest to the outside, before clearing the ropes with a beautiful tope con hilo taking him out on the floor! The crowd is getting behind the kid as the rolls Priest back into the ring and rolls through the ropes with a DDT, but it’s not enough. Priest turns him inside out with a lariat, and this time didn’t fool around hitting a chokeslam backbreaker. The Reckoning follows, and it’s over.
Winner: Damian Priest
