WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match Scheduled For WWE Raw

WWE has announced that Enzo Amore will finally defend his WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Cedric Alexander this week on Monday Night Raw.

The match has been a long time coming, plagued by both illness and controversy for more than a month. It was announced after Survivor Series that a tournament would decide the new #1 contender to the Cruiserweight title, which original came down to Rich Swann and Drew Gulak. When Swann was arrested on charges of domestic battery and false imprisonment, the 205 Live star was swiftly suspended by WWE pending the legal outcome of his case, and the tournament took a step back as a replacement had to be found.

Eventually Cedric Alexander fought his way into the finals of the tournament, defeating Drew Gulak to earn his shot at Enzo’s belt. The original championship bout was supposed to take place before Christmas, and then again last week on Monday Night Raw, but the champion was taken off the show with an illness that actually landed him in the hospital.

Fingers crossed, but if all goes well we should actually see Enzo Amore defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Cedric Alexander this Monday night, January 8th on WWE Raw.
