There had been talk within WWE about whether AJ Styles would be allowed to use his Styles Clash finisher or not. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Vince McMahon found out about Yoshitatsu suffering a broken neck from the move, and the company decided that the calf crusher would be AJ Styles’ new finisher.
Up until his Fastlane match with Chris Jericho, Styles had only used the Styles Clash one before, against Curtis Axel. According to The Observer, Jericho wanted the move in his match and the spot was approved by management.
