We Are Living In 2019 And A Community In Gujarat Has Banned Mobile Phones For Unmarried Women

Kangaroo courts run by community leaders and village heads in rural India has regularly made news for their diktats, often sounding absurd for those seeing from the outside.

These orders have often been criticised for being patriarchal and regressive and demeaning the status of women in society.

In yet another such case, the Kshatriya Thakor community in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district has banned unmarried women of the community from using mobile phones marrying outside the community.
