WATCH: WWE Shoots Angle ‘Re-Injuring’ Becky Lynch’s Knee At This Weekend’s Smackdown House Show

WWE ran an angle this Saturday night at a Smackdown Live brand house show in Alexandria, Louisiana that saw Charlotte Flair brutally attack Becky Lynch, targeting her previously injured knee.

Lynch, who in story was suspended by Mr. McMahon for 60 days this past Monday night on RAW, came through the crowd to interrupt a match between Flair and Asuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championships, making a beeline for her second-generation rival.

The interruption didn’t exactly work out in The Man’s favor, as Charlotte quickly targeted her injured knee with several nasty and awkward submissions using the ropes to inflict additional damage, before using a steel chair to repeatedly and mercilessly attack Lynch.

WWE.com released a statement after the story-driven segment, claiming that Lynch had “re-injured” her knee during the incident.

Of course, this is all a part of the ongoing narrative that has seen the Irish Lasskicker removed from her rightful WrestleMania main event against Ronda Rousey, and replaced by Charlotte; McMahon’s own hand-picked choice. As of now, the plan is still for all three to face off in a triple threat match at WrestleMania this April.
