Both AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura have three-year contracts expiring in early 2019, according to Dave Meltzer during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
Styles made his WWE debut during the 2016 Royal Rumble match, just a few weeks after facing Nakamura for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 10. Nakamura continued wrestling for NJPW through the end of January and held a press conference in February announcing that he had officially signed with WWE. He made his debut at NXT Takeover: Dallas against Sami Zayn, during WrestleMania weekend.
Meltzer also noted that there is interest from NJPW in bringing Nakamura back to the company, but it’s unlikely that he would leave WWE at this stage of his career, after finally being utilized in a major role on the main roster. Plus, it’s worth noting that if WWE really wanted to keep him, the new TV deals allow them to basically offer enough money that no other company would be able to match, let alone beat what they’re offering.
