Senior Supreme Court judge, Justice AK Sikri who was one of the three members of the Selection Committee that removed Alok Verma as the CBI chief has withdrawn his nomination to the London-based Commonwealth Secretariat Arbitral Tribunal (CSAT).
Justice Sikri who was nominated to the Selection Committee by CJI Ranjan Gogoi to represent him had voted in favour of removing Verma.
His vote was crucial as the other member of the committee, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge voted against. Eventually, the government had two votes, including that of PM Modi and Justice Sikri in favour of the move and Kharge opposing it.
