Planes Collide On O'Hare Tarmac: Crash Under Investigation

CHICAGO, IL — Two United Airlines planes collided while on the tarmac at O’Hare International airport Wednesday, causing damage to the wings of both planes. One plane reportedly “clipped the wing” of another aircraft, ABC 7 reports.

According to ABC, United flight 645 was backing out of its gate when its left wingtip bumped into the left wing tip of United flight 2746 while it was parked. Neither pilot, nor any passenger was injured in the collision.

In a statement, United airlines said no one was on board the moving plane, which was set to depart for Portland Oregon. They added, “We are assisting our customers and expect to operate the flight to Portland with a different aircraft shortly.”

The collision is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
