Kushida will work his first televised NXT match against Kassius Ohno on the May 1 edition of NXT. The match was announced on April 24 during NXT and now the former New Japan star will finally get started.
Kushida has worked some live events for the black and gold brand but this will be his first time mixing it up on WWE television. Kushida’s fans are surely happy to see this moment finally come, not only for the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion, but also for the NXT brand itself.
NXT lost two of its top stars when Aleister Black and Ricochet jumped to the main roster. Now that there’s some room at the top, it could very well be that Kushida will climb the ladder quicker than anyone believed he would.
Ohno continues to be a feeding system for NXT’s biggest names. He most recently put over Matt Riddle in The Original Bro’s first NXT feud. While it’s impossible to know whether this match will lead to a rivalry, it’s safe to assume that Kushida will come out on top.
