New Japan Pro Wrestling Legend Jyushin “Thunder” Liger recently spoke at a press conference and announced that he will be retiring at The Tokyo Dome this coming January.
During the upcoming New Japan Cup Tour, it is being said that Liger will not be present as he is already scheduled to be in Ireland during the time this tour takes place. Liger also said that he would want to wrestle at The G1 Supercard Event next month at Madison Square Garden.
Liger, who is currently at the age of 54, has amassed huge success in different Wrestling Promotions all around the world. He has won titles in promotions such as WCW, Pro Wrestling Noah & Dragon Gate. In New Japan Pro Wrestling itself, Liger has won The Young Lions Cup in 1986 & The Naeba Prince Hotel Cup Tag Tournament with Partner Yuji Nagata in 2001. During that same year, Liger would also win The G1 Climax Junior Heavyweight Tag League with his Partner El Samurai.
Aside from those titles, Liger would also hold The NWA World Welterweight Title, The UWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Title, The WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Title, The WWF Light Heavyweight Title & The WAR International Junior Heavyweight Title. He has also been The NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion on two separate occasions. Liger has also been a six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion & an eleven-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
