Jeff Hardy’s WWE SummerSlam Role Officially Announced; Updated PPV Card w/ 8 Title Matches, MITB Defense & More

WWE has officially announced that Shinsuke Nakamura will defend his United States Championship against Jeff Hardy in two weeks time at SummerSlam, live on pay-per-view.

Nakamura managed to steal the title and drop the “Charismatic Enigma” with a wicked low blow back at Extreme Rules, shocking the world with a huge victory in just a matter of seconds. Hardy was then viscously assaulted by a returning Randy Orton – a trend that has continued for multiple weeks now on Smackdown Live. Interestingly enough, the Viper has not yet been given a role at this year’s SummerSlam, but with two week’s of WWE television left to go, don’t rule out him being added to a potential triple threat situation.

Here’s the updated match card, as we come closer to the final show, taking place at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY on Sunday, August 19th. So far there have been nine bouts announced for the show, with all the titles and the Money in the Bank briefcase on the line except the Raw Tag Team Championships, but that’s expected to change in the next few weeks. Last year’s SummerSlam had 13 matches in total with 3 on the Kickoff Show.
