CULVER CITY, CA — Certain smells evoke nostalgic memories of childhood summers: freshly cut grass, hamburgers on a grill and that distinct ice cream shop scent. But will mustard-flavored ice cream have the same effect? The only way to know is to try it yourself.
Ice cream company Coolhaus is teaming up with French’s Mustard to make mustard ice cream in honor of National Mustard Day on August 3.
“After 115 years of using mustard to add something bold and unique to standard fare, we thought, ‘What about ice cream?'” French’s Mustard said.
I could think of a million reasons as to why mustard ice cream is a bad idea. But alas, the mustard company says although the limited-run flavor “might sound crazy,” it tastes “damn good.”
Coolhaus’s Culver City location will have the ice cream available on Aug. 2 through 4, and Aug. 9 through 11. On the East Coast, New Yorkers can look for the French’s Mustard Ice Cream truck on August 1 and 2 before making its way out to teh Hamptons on August 3.
