Bobby Lashley retains WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell

Bobby Lashley retained the WWE Championship tonight at Hell in a Cell, defeating Drew McIntyre.

During the course of the Hell in a Cell match, a ref bump caused a second referee to enter the cage. This allowed MVP to come in and help Lashley. McIntyre ended up laying him out. Towards the end of the match, McIntyre avoided a spear attempt and connected with the future shock DDT. He went for the Claymore, but MVP grabbed him, allowing Lashley to roll up McIntyre and pinned him to retain the title.

As a result of the loss, McIntyre can no longer challenge for the WWE Championship while Lashley is champion.

Lashley has been champion since March 1, when he defeated The Miz on Raw. McIntyre first challenged Lashley at WrestleMania 37, where he was defeated. He lost a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash but was not the one pinned. He pinned Lashley on Raw last week in a six-man tag team match where he and The Viking Raiders defeated AJ Styles, Omos, and Lashley.
