Big Update on Drew McIntyre Returning from Injury

As we noted earlier today, former WWE NXT Champion Drew McIntyre took to Twitter and addressed the injury he suffered during his title match at NXT Takeover WarGames.

According to PWInsider.com, McIntyre’s injury will likely keep him out of action until April of next year. The report adds McIntyre could return in time for the NXT Takeover event taking place the Saturday night before WrestleMania 34, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Unfortunately I did suffer an injury during my title defense at TakeOver. I’ve dealt with setbacks before. The reality is, I always come back better…There's a scary thought for whomever is NXT champion come 2018… #TickTock

NXT Match Confirmed for This Week

In other NXT news, WWE has confirmed Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne vs Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, which was taped the night before NXT Takeover Houston, will air on WWE NXT this week.

As we noted earlie today, it’s likely the entirety of this week’s WWE NXT episode will consist of content taped at the NXT San Antonio event the night before Takeover WarGames. The night included a main event title match featuring Drew McIntyre defending against Adam Cole, with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee.
