The central government has approved an additional aid of Rs 2,500 crore as flood relief to Kerala which was hit by the worst natural disaster in a century. This makes the total amount sanctioned by the centre to Kerala for flood relief touches Rs 3,100 crore including the Rs 600 crore which was announced as interim relief to the state.

A high-level committee headed by union home minister Rajnath Singh will make an official declaration following which, a final notification will be issued on the matter.
