A series of powerful blasts today rocked the capital of Sri Lanka, claiming at least 180 lives so far and leaving thousands injured. The blasts took place in churches and high-end hotels on Easter Sunday when most people were out with family for celebrations.

Worshippers were targeted at the Kochikade, St Sebastian and Batticaloa churches during mass, while the other locations were Hotel Shangri La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury hotel.
After a few hours, two more explosions were reported.
Help and support have poured in from different countries and eminent personalities extended support, condemning the damning act of terror.
