WALES DEFENDER NEIL Taylor has been given a two-match suspension for the horror tackle that broke the leg of Ireland skipper Seamus Coleman in a World Cup qualifier last month.
Everton star Coleman’s season was ended during the 0-0 draw at the Aviva Stadium and Fifa subsequently opened proceedings against Aston Villa defender Taylor.
Fifa have today ruled that the tackle which broke Coleman’s fibula and tibula warrants a two-game ban, which will see Taylor miss qualifiers against Serbia in June and Austria in September.
Taylor was already guaranteed to miss the Serbia clash owing to the straight red card he received in Dublin, so in effect Fifa have decided that a further match on the sidelines is sufficient punishment.

Coleman may not play again this year as a result of the the tackle which is a major blow to Ireland’s World Cup qualifying hopes.
Martin O’Neill’s side are currently second in Group D, level on points with Serbia, and four points clear of third-placed Wales.
The next assignment for the Boys in Green is a home tie against Austria on 11 June, before travelling to Tbilisi to face Georgia on 2 September.
Home clashes against Serbia and Moldova follow on 5 September and 6 October respectively before Ireland round out their campaign with a return clash against Wales on 9 October.
