The First WWE Raw Of the Year Sees Viewership Increase From Final 2017 Show

According to ShowBuzz Daily, this week’s edition of WWE Raw, which was the first show of 2018 and aired on New Year’s Day, averaged 2.865 million viewers. The show featured Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe for the WWE IC Title in a previously announced match, as well as more hype for the Royal Rumble PPV.

The show was supposed to feature Enzo Amore defending the WWE Cruiserweight Title against Cedric Alexander, however due to Amore’s illness and subsequent hospitalization, the bout was canceled.

This week’s WWE Raw viewership is up from the previous week’s 2.703 million viewership average, for a show which aired on Christmas Day. Below is the hourly breakdown for this week’s show, which also featured more talents announced for the Royal Rumble match, a non-title match between Alexa Bliss and Asuka, Braun Strowman in-action, and the return of Brock Lesnar in the main event segment with his Royal Rumble opponent Kane.

-The first hour averaged 2.969 million viewers
-The second hour averaged 2.912 million viewers
-The final hour averaged 2.714 million viewers

This week’s WWE Raw ranked #10 for the night on cable TV, behind SportsCenter and coverage of College Football Bowl Games.
