A new Ring of Honor World Champion was crowned on Saturday night, and an outside invader from the National Wrestling Alliance was directly responsible.
The main event of ROH’s Gateway To Honor event in St. Charles, MO saw PCO of Villain Enterprises put up his world title against both RUSH and Mark Haskins, in triple threat action.
While it looked like the pro-wrestling’s resident Frankenstein’s monster had the match within his grasp, Nick Aldis made a surprise appearance, decking PCO with the ROH title belt. RUSH then delivered a devastating missile dropkick in the corner, made the cover, and stole the championship.
Aldis will be facing “The Villain” Marty Scurll for the Ten Pounds of Gold in April during the 2020 Crockett Cup, and this was clearly a direct shot from the face of the NWA to his upcoming challenger. The question now is, how will PCO feel about getting caught up in his stablemate’s drama, to the extent that it’s now cost him the ROH World Heavyweight Championship.
