NXT Spoilers: ROH Star Debuts, Tag Team Reunites, New Tag Team

Multiple episodes of NXT were taped in Full Sail University last night, and in addition to two matches being announced for NXT Takeover: Phoenix being announced, some other developments took place. Fans who were in attendance for the shows yesterday have reported that a recent WWE signee made his NXT television debut during last night’s tapings. Former Ring of Honor Television Champion Punishment Martinez competed in Full Sail University for the first time ever. Although Martinez had the support, he lost to fellow NXT newcomer, Matt Riddle. The match featuring Martinez’ debut is expected to air on an episode of NXT on the WWE Network within the next few weeks, so be on the lookout for Punishment’s arrival.

Former NXT Tag Team Champions Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were beloved by the fans, and they were also involved in several great matches during their time as a tag team. #DIY ended last year when Ciampa turned on Gargano. However, it looks like the team has shockingly decided to reunite. During last night’s NXT tapings, Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano faced off in a steel cage match when NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa entered and helped Gargano win. The two of them did their old #DIY finisher on Black as well. Gargano and Ciampa had been involved in arguably the feud of the year in WWE, but Ciampa did state that he was proud of “Johnny Wrestling” following his recent heel turn.

While one tag team in NXT has reformed, another has just gotten started. As seen during Evolution, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir helped Shayna Baszler regain the NXT Women’s Championship. The two of them have stuck by Shayna’s side lately and even assited her again at NXT Takeover: WarGames earlier this month. Shafir and Duke will now be making their in-ring debuts on NXT television within the next few weeks. The Horsewomen took on the team of Dakota Kai and Io Shirai during the tapings for NXT in Full Sail yesterday. Kai and Shirai first took issue with Duke and Shafir during Takeover: WarGames when they helped even the odds in the 2-out-of-3 falls match between Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane, but they were unable to help Sane win back the NXT Women’s Championship during the event
