Nantes close to loan signing of Samuel Grandsir from AS Monaco

Ouest-France and Le Parisien report that FC Nantes are closing in on the loan signing of 22-year-old French winger Samuel Grandsir.

Grandsir spent the second half of the 2018/19 campaign on loan with Strasbourg, where he flitted in and out of their team. A season-long loan move to Les Canaris is not expected to include an option to purchase the player from AS Monaco.

Leonardo Jardim does not see a short-term future for the French youth international at the Principality side.

Steven Nzonzi – Lyon rumours are wide of the mark

Our colleagues at Foot Mercato report that claims linking 30-year-old French defensive midfielder Steven Nzonzi to Lyon are wide of the mark.

Claims of a provisional contract agreement between the 2018 World Cup winner and Lyon have been denied by the AS Roma player’s entourage.

The entourage goes further, indicate that there has been zero contact between Nzonzi and OL.

He does however intend to be open to ambitious projects, but could very well remain for a second season at the Serie A club.

The La Liga club had been making impressive strides in convincing the French World Cup winner, having promised him that they would also sign his 22-year-old younger brother Yassin Fékir as part of an eventual deal and include him in their 1st team.

Spanish sources have indicated that the Frenchman has reached a €6m a year gross wage agreement with OL in recent hours and the newspaper agree that his departure feels imminent, with his participation in the squad to face Genoa in a friendly tomorrow in serious doubt. However, his destination is not fully established.

Fékir and his team have decided to pause before accepting Real Betis’ proposal, with L’Équipe putting forth the hypothesis that he wants to wait to see if a club of better standing than 10th placed La Liga side Betis come in.

Sevilla have shown an interest in him and Lyon are convinced that Valencia could imminently make a bid.

However, Fékir’s camp are certain that another ambitious club, at least one, is set to add itself to the list of options. It is therefore necessary in their eyes to wait.

Exclusive | Newcastle – Stanley N’Soki contract discussions at breaking point

Sources contacted by Get French Football News understand that contract negotiations between 20-year-old PSG defender Stanley N’Soki and Premier League side Newcastle United have reached a breaking point.

Les Parisiens accepted an €11m bid from the Magpies for the young defender yesterday, but we then reported then that an agreement over personal terms was some way off.

Today, Newcastle repeated a series of low-ball wage offers, which is felt to not match the enthusiasm which the transfer target decision-makers had been showing towards the player.

As a result, contract talks have ended and Newcastle will have to up their proposal to the player considerably in order to get a deal done.

If the Magpies have a change of heart in terms of what they are offering, the situation could decant as quickly as in the next 48 hours.

Crystal Palace had a bid turned down for Morgan Sanson

L’Équipe report that Crystal Palace last week had a bid for French central midfielder Morgan Sanson turned down by Marseille for being too low.

The outlet wonders whether Everton may make a move for the 24-year-old on deadline day after being forced to move on from Abdoulaye Doucouré of Watford, for whom the Toffees have had two bids rejected.

If OM were to sell Sanson this week, they are expected to go after Nantes captain Valentin Rongier to replace him.

La Provence report this morning that Sanson has no intention of a rushed departure from Marseille and despite interest from Everton & Crystal Palace, the ex-Montpellier man will be remaining with OM for the 2019/20 campaign.
