Becky Lynch Interview
WWE Superstar Becky Lynch recently caught up with The Daily News at the Fearless Girl statue in Manhattan’s Financial District this morning.
Why WWE fans are behind this Sunday’s all-women’s event:
“Because I think that, one, we’ve never had such a memorable women’s champion as we do on “Smackdown Live” so I think that’s reason part one. But I also think that people have never been as invested in the female characters and we’ve never put on such show-stealing matches as we have been lately. And for the past few years we’ve just been stealing the show time and time again. The fans are ready for it. The fans started all this. They’re the ones that started the hastag ‘Give Divas A Chance’ and it turned into Revolution and here we are with WWE Evolution.”
What’s the current buzz for Sunday’s event:
“I think everybody is super pumped to see what we bring. I think people are super pumped to see what the champ brings and I think it’s next-level excitement because it is historical.”

Her message to Charlotte before their ‘Last Woman Standing’ match:
“You’ll never beat me. You’ll never beat me in a fair fight. You’ve bested me a time or two, but you’ve always had somebody helping you. You don’t have anybody helping you. There’s gonna be nobody there to save you come Sunday.”

How Ronda Rousey impact on WWE:
“She’s a huge star. She’s a huge name. She has done so much for women in sports, right? We look at MMA and we look at UFC and women wouldn’t be in the octagon in UFC if it wasn’t for Ronda. She changed the game there and she’s a natural, an absolute natural. She has taken to this like a duck to water. She is doing great things, but I would like her to prove herself by stepping into the ring against me.”
Below is a complete list of names, including current WWE Superstars and returning legends, who competed in Sunday night’s 20-woman battle royale at the historic all-women’s pay-per-view event, WWE Evolution.

Friday Night SmackDown on Fox averaged 2.169 million viewers for the August 6 episode, up 6.2 percent from the previous week.

It’s SmackDown’s highest viewership since July 16, which was the first show in WWE’s return to touring. It’s also SmackDown’s second-best viewership since May 7.
In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.61 rating, up seven percent from the previous week. That’s also the second-best number for SmackDown since the May 7 episode. Actual viewership in that category was 792,000 viewers, up from 742,000 the previous week.
The year-over-year numbers continue to be strong for SmackDown. The overall audience was up 10.6 percent from this week in 2020, while the 18-49 demo was up 22 percent. This is comparing to the period where SmackDown numbers bottomed out prior to the introduction of the ThunderDome at the end of August.
As compared to the 10-week average prior to this week, as shown in the chart below, SmackDown was up 7.9 percent in overall viewership and up 15.1 percent in the 18-49 demo.
McLaren’s Lando Norris says he’s still “coming to grips” with the unbelievable popularity he has gained with F1’s fans in his three years in the sport.
As a driver, Norris’ stock has consistently appreciated since his debut year in 2019, evolving in just three seasons from a gem in the rough to a superbly refined and skilled racer, and with significant more development in the works.
But the 21-year-old’s on-track success is paralleled by an off-track acclaim from the fans, spurred on by his often-facetious demeanor but also by a candid personality that reflects his open and honest approach to his life in the fast lane but also a degree of vulnerability.
The wave of fan support keeps swelling and was particularly visible at this year’s British Grand Prix, where his personal merchandise sales went through the roof, as did those of Quadrant, the Esports and gaming content brand founded by Norris and four other online influencers.

“It’s something I’m still coming to grips with,” he told Motorsport.com, referring to his growing popularity.
“It’s something that still is surprising and unbelievable in some ways to think, whatever, five years, six years ago, that I wanted to be in this position, and seeing the grandstands with my caps on, and my T-shirts on, and the Quadrant flags and things like that.
“You never think that will be you. And I know it is, so it’s a bit unbelievable in some ways, and I’m still getting to grips with it.”

Norris admits to being attentive to how seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton manages his popularity and how F1’s mega star has leveraged his fame and success to positively impact the causes he has embraced.

“It’s still something Lewis does very well because he’s been in it for so long and so on,” added Norris.
“He’s used his fans – not used in a bad way, but used them to make change and cause impact and things like that.
“It’s something which I’ve been able to do with Quadrant, on mental health with some things I’ve done, plus charities I’ve done on my streams.
“So I’ve been able to use my fans and help guide them and use them to impact things and hopefully for better reasons than not.
“It’s something I need to know how to maximise that and how to make the most of the position I’m in.
“So not just as a driver and how to do the best for myself, but how to do the best outside of Formula 1 even, and use my following and my fan base in those areas too.
“So yeah, it’s just such a cool feeling. It’s an unbelievable feeling until you kind of come and see it and get to witness it. So it’s pretty incredible.
“Hopefully it will continue to grow and get bigger and I will see what I can learn from it, and try and use to make even bigger impacts like Lewis does.”
