Updated betting odds for this week’s WWE Greatest Royal Rumble match have Braun Strowman and Daniel Bryan jockeying for the match favorite. As of now, Strowman’s odds of winning the match rest at 7/4 and Bryan’s rest at 5/2.

Seth Rollins On Monday Night Raw: “I’m the Guy They Should Build the Show Around”

WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins recently spoke with Newsweek to promote this Friday’s Greatest Royal Rumble event, and below are some interview highlights.

On becoming a Grand Slam Champion in WWE:

“It’s pretty cool, it’s a small group that we have. Obviously, it’s growing now that Jeff Hardy won the U.S. title and Randy Orton did it a couple of months back. But even then, it’s an elite number of superstars. I feel very privileged to be among that group and to carry on the lineage of the great Intercontinental Championship.”

On what he hopes to bring to the IC Title:

“You go all the way back to the first ever Intercontinental Champion, Pat Patterson, till now and the million great names in between, and most recently with the Miz and Roman Reigns, they have done an incredible job on Monday Night RAW making the Intercontinental belt the title to go after every single week, the one that gets showcased the most. I just want to carry that on. I had a really solid 2018, so far, from an in-ring perspective, and I want to continue that with some great Intercontinental matches.”

On Roman Reigns possibly returning to Saudi Arabia as the Universal Champion:

“It’s his yard all he wants. But I feel the show is mine, they don’t call it Monday Night Rollins for nothing. I go out there every Monday and put on the best performances. For me, I’m the guy they should build the show around so [Roman] can think whatever he wants.”

WWE Issues Statement On Criticism From the LGBT Community on Greatest Royal Rumble Event

PinkNews.com recently published a piece highlighting criticism from the LGBT community regarding WWE’s decision to hold its Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

In seven countries around the world, homosexuality is punishable by death, and Saudi Arabia is amongst the countries which has such a law. With WWE supporting the LGBT community via superstars such as Finn Balor, who will be donating proceeds of his new t-shirt to GLAAD, the decision to hold an event in Saudi Arabia has drawn the eyre of members of the LGBT community, with the WWE LGBT Twitter account polling fans on the event:

Batista Explains Why His Planned WrestleMania 34 Match Did Not Happen, Says WWE Stopped Answering Texts

As we noted immediately following WrestleMania 34, WWE and Batista were in talks earlier this year regarding The Animal teaming up with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34, but of course the plan fell through and Rousey ended up teaming with Kurt Angle in New Orleans.

We also noted that Batista claimed in an interview that he had been talking with Triple H about the match plan, but then he stopped hearing back from both The Game and WWE, so the deal never happened.

Batista recently spoke with Chad Dukes of 106.7 The Fan, and offered more details on why the Ronda Rousey match plan fell through.

“I’m really an old-school kayfabe guy. But they reached out to me earlier this year to possibly come back and do that thing with Ronda (Rousey),” said Batista.

“And I said that I would be willing to do it only if we teased something for me and Hunter to go to Mania next year,” he added. “And they said, ‘Yeah, that would be great. I love that idea.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s great. I’ll come back a few times during the year, and we’ll tease it, and we’ll work it and we’ll milk it. And we’ll go to Mania, me and Hunter, next year.’ Oh, I love that idea. Let’s do it!”

“And so we literally talked for about like three weeks and then they just stopped calling me,” Bautista went on. “I sent a text to Hunter. I was like, ‘Hey man, I don’t know if you put any more thought into what’s going on. I’m really excited about the possibilities.’

“And I literally never heard back from them. They just stopped talking to me about it. Man, I don’t know what else I can do to try to… I want to end my career the right way. I’m faithful and loyal to the WWE. I’m proud of being from there and I want to do good business with them, but they just don’t make it easy. You know, they just don’t.”

“But I don’t get it, man. But I told them next year would be my last year. I’m turning 50 next year. I’d be willing to… I feel great. Physically, I’m in great shape. I’ve never let up on that.”

“But I just don’t want to be the old guy in the ring and I don’t want to overstay my welcome,” he said. “I just want to end my career the right way and next year will be the last opportunity, so if we can’t make something happen by next year, then I’m just gonna officially hang it up.”

Update on Mike Kanellis Possibly Breaking Rumble Record, Drew McIntyre Says WWE Roster is “Just Happy to Be Here”

The Greatest (Greatest) Rumble Record?

As previously reported, over the weekend there was some question about the legitimacy of WWE Superstar Mike Kanellis potentially breaking the all-time record for shortest time spent in a Royal Rumble match.

The recently drafted RAW star entered the Greatest Royal Rumble at the #6 position but was quickly eliminated by the “World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry. The WWE commentary team immediately began to speculate whether or not Kanellis had broken the record, currently held by Santino Marella at 1.9 seconds, but generally when doing an angle like this the company is all over pushing the new record as quickly and as often as humanly possible so that they can use it as a talking point.

Kanellis was interviewed backstage last night on Monday Night RAW and was beyond relieved to find out that he did NOT break the record for shortest Rumble appearance. His official time, as it will stand in the record books, is 2.49 seconds. Hopefully this groundbreaking revelation will lead to seeing more of the world’s greatest love story unfold on WWE television. Check out the video above!

WWE Star Never Eliminated From GRR?

Former WWE star Hurricane Helms Tweeted the following on Hornswoggle never going over the top ropes when he was eliminated from the Greatest Royal Rumble match, but some fans seem to disagree:

Glenn Jacobs Officially Declared the Republican Mayoral Candidate, Cathy Kelley On Jacobs’ Big Win (Video)

Despite WWE star Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, winning the Republican party Mayoral primary election earlier this week, provisional ballots needed to be totaled before Jacobs was officially declared the winner of the election.

It’s now being reported that the provisional ballots have been counted, and Jacobs was officially declared the winner of the primary, sending him to election day on November 6th against the Democratic nominee.

As seen below, Jacobs announced his win via Twitter, and in the video above, Cathy Kelley looks at Kane’s win in the latest edition of “WWE Now”.

Mankind vs. Big Show – Boiler Room Brawl: Backlash 1999

At WrestleMania XV, Mankind defeated Big Show by disqualification to become the special referee of the main event between Rock and Austin. The animosity between Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy and The World’s Largest Athlete did not subside and they once again battled the next month.

With the rivalry intensified, however, the bout took place on Mankind’s turf — the boiler room. In only the second Boiler Room Brawl featured on pay-per-view, Mick Foley’s deranged alter-ego used the underground environment to his advantage against his giant opponent. The brutal and dangerous contest ended after a stack of pipes fell on The World’s Largest Athlete, allowing Mankind to escape.

BREAKING: WWE Backlash Rundown Leaks Online; Big Segment Planned, Which Match Will Go On Last?

A leaked rundown sheet for tonight’s WWE Backlash pay-per-view has surfaced online, likely taken by a fan in attendance at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The photo, which you can check out for yourself below, reveals that a big “Elias Musical Performance” is planned, but more importantly it looks like the WWE Championship will NOT being going on last.

Of course, now that the match order for tonight’s show has leaked online, it’s altogether possible WWE could pull a last minute audible for the sake of shaking things up. As of now though, here’s the order of every segment planned for Backlash:

WWE Officially Announces NXT Takeover Brooklyn Over SummerSlam Weekend

WWE has announced the following:

NXT’s summertime tradition continues this August when NXT TakeOver Brooklyn comes to the Barclays Center for a fourth consecutive year.

The Superstars of the black-and-yellow brand will take center stage at TakeOver: Brooklyn on Saturday, Aug. 18, one night before WWE SummerSlam emanates from the same building. Tickets for Takeover: Brooklyn will be available at NXTtickets.com starting this Friday, May 11, at 10 a.m. ET.
