— On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that WWE taped their NXT show over the weekend at Full Sail University rather than the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL as the company’s production trucks were spotted there. It’s also possible that WWE taped other non-TV content at Full Sail, possibly even material for WrestleMania as well.

Violence from the conflict in Syria continues to spill over into Lebanon with explosive consequences.
Early Friday morning the Israeli air force bombed what they labeled a “terror site” in Naameh, an area between Beirut and Sidon.
According to media reports, the attack targeted a site of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), a group that has supported Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Israel said the attack was “in response to a barrage of four rockets launched at northern Israel yesterday.” The PFLP denied responsibility for the attack on Israel on Thursday.
The New York Times notes that Capt. Eytan Buchman, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces,

Neither the rockets fired from Lebanon nor Israel’s bombing resulted in injuries, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, in the northern, largely Sunni city of Tripoli, Reuters reports that at least 42 people were killed and hundreds wounded when bombs went off at two mosques following Friday prayers. The Times reports that no one has taken responsibility for the bombs at this point. Reuters adds:
Zeina Khodr of Al Jazeera reports that it is a “volatile time for the country,” and said that Tripoli “is a place which has witnessed clashes between supporters of the Syrian government and opponents of the Syrian government [and] Lebanese factions exchanging fire on many occasions over the past year.”
Between 700,000 and one million Syrian refugees have fled to Lebanon, a country a little more than two decades out from its own civil war. Ben Hubbard reported this week in the Times:

Iran’s new President Hassan Rouhani reached out to the United States in his first press conference as president Tuesday, calling for “serious and substantive” negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, and cited the need for “talks not threats.”
“If the United States shows goodwill and mutual respect, the way for interaction will be open,” he declared, urging a diplomatic solution.
Rouhani’s Tuesday statements were reported by Reuters as an ‘offering of an olive branch’ from a president and cleric widely viewed as a moderate within the spectrum of Iranian official politics.
They follow in line with previous statements Rouhani has made, including his declaration at his presidential swearing-in ceremony Sunday, “If you want an adequate response, you shouldn’t speak the language of sanctions, you should speak the language of respect.”
US-led sanctions, which target Iranian oil, have decimated the economy of a country whose state revenue is 80 percent oil derived, slamming Iran’s poor and working classes and creating shortages in medical supplies and equipment. The sanctions were based on unproven claims of an Iranian nuclear weapons program.
In late July, the US House voted in favor of a new round of Iran sanctions, passing a bill heavily backed by AIPAC, despite the opposition of 16 representatives urging a delay of the bill so that diplomacy with Iran’s new president can be attempted.
Diplomacy advocates hope that Rouhani’s call for talks, despite hostility from the US, can usher alternatives to damaging sanctions and US and Israeli threats and military buildup.
“[Rouhani’s latest statement] is very positive,” Robert Naiman, policy director for Just Foreign Policy, an organization aimed at building policy based on diplomacy, law and cooperation, told Common Dreams. “This is the best opportunity we’ve had for diplomacy in years, and it would be a shame not to fully test it.”

W Series has sealed a partnership with Formula 1 that will see the all-female single-seater championship added as a support event at eight Grands Prix in 2021.
The precise locations and dates of the rounds will be announced in due course but the deal will significantly boost the series’ exposure on the international scene.
“It is a really important moment for us to welcome W Series as partners for eight races next season,” said Ross Brawn, F1’s director of motorsports.
“They have been a beacon to many since they began racing in 2019.
“We believe it is incredibly important to give everyone the chance to reach the highest levels of our sport and their partnership with Formula 1 next season shows our determination and commitment to showcase their exciting series and the importance of building greater diversity across the sport.”
W Series was forced to scrap its 2020 program due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the championship will return in its identical form next season, although drivers will be eligible for Superlicence points.
Catherine Bond Muir, W Series Chief Executive Officer, said:
“Formula 1 is by some margin the world’s premier motor racing series, and, when we promised that W Series would be bigger and better in the future, partnering with Formula 1 was always our ultimate objective
“There is no doubt that, now that W Series will be run alongside and in collaboration with Formula 1, our global reach, impact and influence will be increased significantly.
Formula 1 releases provisional 23-race 2021 calendar
“Everything that made W Series so popular and successful in 2019 will remain.
“The cars will be identical, the racing will be close and competitive, and our mission will always be to further the interests and prospects of female racing drivers.
“We want W Series to entertain, and entertain it will,” added Bond Muir. “But we also want it to become a crucial default-option stepping stone for any female racing driver who wants to carve out a professional racing career, and our proximity to Formula 1 will help and enhance that process.
“The fact that W Series is now eligible for FIA Super Licence points will also be an important factor in that regard.
“We are very grateful to Chase Carey, Ross Brawn and their colleagues for having faith in W Series, and for prioritising diversity and inclusion in this way, and we intend to help them drive forwards their excellent #WeRaceAsOne programme this year and in years to come.”

Reigning ITU Paratriathlon World Champion and Strictly star Lauren Steadman is just one of the famous names backing the campaign. What are the different triathlon distances?
The campaign looks set to encourage over 5,000 people to complete a triathlon in January. Each of the four famous faces will take on a different triathlon distance and encourage others to do the same – showing that triathlon is for everyone, regardless of age, ability or lifestyle.
So challenge your friend, loved one or colleague, to take on Tri January as an individual, or as part of a team.
They can swim or row, bike and run throughout the month by choosing their challenge and completing one of the distances below:
TEAM YOU, ME AND THE BIG C (GO TRI distance – 15km)
TEAM BUSHELL (Sprint distance – 25km)
TEAM STEADMAN (Standard distance – 50km)
There is no set formula for completing the challenge, as long as you achieve the distance. So, swim one day – or jump on the indoor rower if you prefer – bike the next and run the week after. Alternatively, they can complete the whole challenge all in one go. Tri January is designed to fit activity into even the most hectic of lifestyles. Their triathlon; their choice. Who knows they may become hooked and become your Ironman training partner…
Tri January aims to engage new participants and those with a ‘revolving door’ relationship with sport and physical activity with fun and accessible challenges, triathlon-style.

The organisers of the multiple-220 Triathlon Award winning Outlaw have announced a new middle-distance event for September 2019.
The Outlaw X will celebrate the tenth anniversary year of Outlaw (pictured) and will take place in the grounds of Thoresby Hall in north Nottinghamshire on Sunday 22 September. The event, say the organisers, will provide triathletes of all abilities with an opportunity to finish the 2019 racing season on a high.
Following a 1.9km swim in Thoresby Lake, athletes will embark on a 90km ride through the Nottinghamshire countryside before completing the journey with a 21.1km run through 1,000 acres of English countryside within the grounds of the historic Thoresby Hall.
Once the racing is complete and the last athlete has been cheered across the line in front of the Grade 1 listed 19th century hall, the special Outlaw X Awards Party will begin, which will look back on 10 years of the Outlaw and celebrate the special individuals who have been integral to its journey.

The Outlaw Half Nottingham and full Outlaw Nottingham have already sold out, so the organisers are expecting demand for entries to be high. You can pre-register here: www.outlawtriathlon.com/outlaw-x-pre-register/
