AEW Double Or Nothing Sells Out Online in Quick Order

AEW Double or Nothing will take place on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Earlier today, there was a pre-sale for the event and tickets sold out in about 25 minutes.

There’s still a general sale beginning at 12 pm ET / 9 am PT this Wednesday, but it’s expected those remaining tickets will go just as quick.
Below are the announced matches for the event so far:

Auggies net two runners-up at Husky Open

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Jackson Graham (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and Tanner Vassar (SO, Maple Lake, Minn./Maple Lake HS) recorded runner-up finishes, two of seven top-four placewinners for the Augsburg University wrestling team at the St. Cloud State University Holiday Inn/Husky Open on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Graham scored a pair of wins over University of Minnesota wrestlers Tijani Karaborni and Faris Karaborni, before being edged 6-5 in the 184-pound finals by Luke Dodd of Saint John’s, the No. 8-ranked wrestler at 184 in Division III. Graham is now 6-2 on the season.
• Vassar also went 2-1 on the day to finish second at 174. He claimed a pin in his opening match, but suffered a third-period pin in the title match to St. Cloud State’s Kolton Eischens. Vassar is now 11-2 on the year.
• Alex Wilson (JR, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) went 4-1 on the day to finish third, scoring a pin, technical fall and major decision along the way to improve to 12-3 on the season.
• Sebastian Larson (SR, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) improved to 11-3 on the season with a 3-1 day, finishing third at 197, and Solomon Nielsen (FY, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS) went 4-1 on the day with three pins and a major decision to place third at 174.
• Bryce Zdanovec (SR, Little Chute, Wis./Little Chute HS) finished fourth at 157, as did Brady McFarland (JR, Windlake, Wis./Muskego HS) at 165.

Ronda Rousey to Join Total Divas? AEW Addresses LGBT Wrestlers

Ever since coming to WWE one year ago, Ronda Rousey has proved that she has what it takes in the ring. Rousey left the world of MMA to take on her dream of becoming a pro wrestler, and she is now the Raw Women’s Champion and is heavily rumored to be headlining WrestleMania 35 in April. There is simply no denying that she has had a tremendously successful first year in the business. Given the amount of success and mainstream appeal behind Rousey’s name, it only makes sense that the company would want to feature her as much as possible on their programming. Perhaps this is why it is now being rumored that Ronda Rousey could be joining the cast of Total Divas later on this year.
Could Rousey be added to the cast of Total Divas for its newest season? According to Squared Circle Sirens, Rousey will be joining the cast as part of the next season of the show. A camera crew has reportedly been filming Rousey at her Browsey Acres farm over the past few weeks for the next season of Total Divas. WWE confirmed earlier today that SmackDown wrestler Sonya Deville will be joining the cast of Total Divas in the place that Lana formerly had on the series. It sounds like there may be more changes made to the cast soon which include Ronda’s involvement on Total Divas. Neither WWE, nor Rousey, nor the E! network have confirmed the casting yet, but that is expected to change within the next couple of weeks.
All Elite Wrestling is aiming to “change the world” when it comes to pro wrestling. One of the ways that the promotion is going about accomplishing this bold goal is by being completely inclusive. After receiving some backlash for signing transgender wrestler Nyla Rose, and later announcing her for involving Kylie Rae and Britt Baker at Double or Nothing, AEW personnel put out a statement on their inclusion of LGBT competitors. A Twitter user later urged AEW Executive Vice President to comment on the “rampant homophobia” within AEW’s fanbase. In response, Cody and Brandi Rhodes both reiterated that AEW is place for everybody and that discrimination based on race, sexual orientation, and so on will absolutely not be tolerated.

Viewership For This Week’s Episode Of SmackDown LIVE Slightly Up

This week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE was able to generate an average of 2.034 million viewers. This is up from last week’s 1.841 million viewers, which was a historic low for the show due to competition from President Trump’s State Of The Union Address. This week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE was The Go-Home Show for Sunday’s WWE Elimination Chamber PPV Event and it featured a Gauntlet Main Event Matchup that ran for more than 1 hour.

SmackDown LIVE was #8 for the night in viewership on cable, behind Curse Of Oak Island, Tucker Carlson Tonight, Hannity, The Rachel Maddow Show, The Ingraham Angle, The Five & The Last Word. SmackDown LIVE was #3 in the 18-49 demographic this week, behind Curse Of Oak Island & The NBA Game between The Celtics & The 76ers. Curse Of Oak Island topped the night in the 18-49 demographic and in viewership with 3.700 million viewers.

The big draw on network TV at 8PM was NCIS on CBS, which drew 13.370 million viewers. In comparison, Monday’s WWE RAW drew 2.462 million viewers, down from last week’s 2.510 million viewers.

Paige Calmed Nia Jax After Lynch Incident, Rousey’s Ideal Partner

Although she was taken out of the match during Raw this past Monday night, the belief is that Becky Lynch will be facing Ronda Rousey in some fashion during WrestleMania 35 this April. However, that match may not have taken place at “The Greatest Stage of Them All” if it were not for Raw Superstar Nia Jax. Rousey and Lynch were originally set to clash at Survivor Series back in November, but an accidental legitimate punch to the face from Jax days before the event forced WWE to pull “The Man” from the match due to her injuries. Several fans were upset with Nia Jax following the incident, and even Jax herself felt terrible about what she did. Luckily for her, Paige was by her side to cheer her up and encourage her to keep moving forward.
During an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Paige discussed the incident with Nia Jax and Becky Lynch from a few months ago and some of the words that she shared with “The Irresistible Force” afterwards. According to the former Divas Champion, Jax was very upset with herself for what happened between herself and Lynch, and she was upset with the negative and hostile reaction that grew out of the ordeal. Paige said that she took the time to calm her down and even encourage her to use the crowd heat to her advantage since she was about to undergo a heel turn anyway. Of course, Jax did just that, and she and Tamina are fighting to become the inaugural new Women’s Tag Team Champions during Elimination Chamber tomorrow.
“I had to calm Nia down from that because she was like, ‘I feel like
everyone is mad!’ And I said, ‘You know what? This elevated Becky so
much too. And you’re about to turn heel anyways — so who cares?’” Paige said.

Tomorrow night’s Elimination Chmaber pay-per-view will see several teams from Raw and SmackDown compete to crown the first set of Women’s Tag Team Champions in WWE in over two decades. Although she won’t be competing for the titles tomorrow, Ronda Rousey just revealed who she would like to team up with to win the championships someday. In a video posted on her YouTube channel, the Raw Women’s Champion explained why she would want to win the new titles with Natalya. Nattie played a big role in helping Rousey train for her WWE career, and the two of them have partnered up on Raw in the past. Perhaps these two friends and outstanding competitors will win gold together at some point down the line.

Lacey Evans On Why Avoiding Elimination Chamber is Good Idea
