Big Show Says Becky Lynch’s Bloody Invasion Gave Him Goosebumps

SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio was aptly named in their recent discussion with The Big Show this week as they talked about SmackDown Women’s Champ Becky Lynch getting busted open by Nia Jax during her Monday Night RAW invasion in Kansas City.
Show said the moment gave him goosebumps, and The Man responded with a tweet asking Show to help her get medical clearance to get back in the ring. Here’s the exchange:

ESPN Report: WWE Brand Splits for RAW, SmackDown Likely to End

The start of the WWE’s new TV contracts will likely cause the end of this current iteration of brand splits between RAW and SmackDown, according to ESPN Senior Writer Arash Markazi.
The WWE began this split in 2016, in part as a way to infuse the roster with rising NXT talent. However, the company has used the strategy of splitting up RAW and SmackDown only to merge them once again previous times. The first WWE draft took place in 2002 after the WCW and ECW were bought out, creating enough diversity of talent to have two separate brands. The split was then scrapped and competed as one main roster from 2011-16.
Markazi’s report states that the current brand split didn’t make any waves under the current TV contract because NBC Universal had both shows under its umbrella. However, Fox agreed to pay $1.025 billion over five years for SmackDown rights that begin in October 2019, and NBC Universal will pay $265 million per year for the next five years to keep RAW on the USA Network. Markazi says it’s unlikely either network will be happy with TV rights to only half of the WWE roster each week, especially with a big push for SmackDown moving to Friday nights on Fox.

Markazi added that, not only will the networks want the biggest stars, but the Superstars themselves will also want the mainstream exposure that comes from having SmackDown on Fox. SmackDown will also be part of Fox’s promotional strategy for its Thursday and Sunday NFL games and Saturday college football games, and the network will obviously want more than a half of a WWE roster to promote those events, along with MLB, soccer and NASCAR programming.
The report goes on to state that this will have a massive impact on WWE overall. It will likely create better storylines and better matchups because more superstars will be available to keep feuds from getting stale. Obviously, this could mean that some of your favorite Superstars will see less air time.

205 Live, Hogan Family Member At RAW, Strowman – McMahon Stat

Prior to last night’s episode of SmackDown LIVE which emanated from The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, WWE taped the following matches for this week’s episode of WWE 205 Live, which will be aired tonight on The WWE Network at 7PM ET:

– Tony Nese def. Noam Dar after a distraction from WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy.

– The Brian Kendrick & Akira Tozawa def. Two Local Enhancement Talents.

– Gran Metalik def. TJP. Lucha House Party’s Kalisto & Lince Dorado came out with Metalik while Mike Kanellis & Maria Kanellis came out with TJP. TJP came out to Mike’s theme song. A brawl broke out before the match but 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick came out to calm things down. Fans chanted “AOP-Pee” at him. After the match, Maria came back out and distracted The Lucha House Party, allowing Mike to enter the ring and attack all three members with a steel chair. Kanellis & TJP stood tall to end the show.

Nick Hogan was backstage for last Monday night’s WWE RAW in Los Angeles, California at The Staples Center. Nick is the son of WWE Hall Of Famer “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan.

In a bit of a trivia from The WWE Survivor Series PPV Event, Braun Strowman is the only Superstar to represent RAW in The Men’s Traditional 5-on-5 Elimination Match in 2016, 2017 and 2018. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon is the only SmackDown LIVE Superstar to represent the brand in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Augustana opens conference dual season with a victory over Northern State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- No. 15 Augustana wrestling won its first conference dual of the season defeating Northern State 31-12 Friday Night at the Elmen Center. The victory gives the Vikings an 8-2 record on the season, 1-0 NSIC, the loss dropped the Wolves to 4-4 (0-1 NSIC).

Javier Vieyra (125 Pounds) got Augustana on the board first with an 8-1 decision over Ben Cauffman. Vieyra dominated most of the match scoring three takedowns and an escape to secure the victory. Giving the Vikings an early 3-0 lead.

Northern State would take a 6-3 lead when Ben Carson pinned David Potratz (133 Pounds) in the first period.

Austin Jordan (141 Pounds) gets a 4-0 decision win over Matt Bettencourt. All Jordan needed was a four-point nearfall in the second period to secure the victory. Jordan improved to 2-0 in duals on the season.

Northern State would get the next two victories by way of decisions at 157 pounds and 165 pounds to tie the match at 12.

Ben Goodwin (174 Pounds) got Augustana back in the win column with a 17-4 major decision over Anthony Navarro. Goodwin had four takedown and two near falls during the match. Goodwin improved to 4-1 on the season.

Logan Henning (184 Pounds) would score a pin in the second period over David Murphy. Henning had two four-point nearfalls during the match before finally pinning Murphy.

Aero Amo (197 Pounds) improved to 16-1 on the season defeating No. 7 Joe Gomez by a 5-1 sudden victory. Amo and Gomez were both tied at one going into overtime. Amo would score the takedown and the nearfall with five second left in the first overtime section to gain the victory. This is Amo’s first victory over a ranked opponent this season.

Augustana will travel to Kenosha, Wis. next weekend to compete in the Ranger Duals with the first dual starting at 9 a.m.

AXS TV Announces Real-Time Coverage With Wrestle Kingdom 13 PPV

AXS TV recently issued a press release to announce that NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 PPV Event will receive same day coverage, beginning with a two-hour broadcast at 8PM ET on January 4th featuring English commentary by Kevin Kelly * Don Callis. The following two weeks will air the rest of the matches that will take place at NJPW’s biggest show of the year.

The network also announced when it will be airing New Years Dash & New Beginning in Sapporo, which can be seen below.

Los Angeles (Nov. 21, 2018) – AXS TV ushers in a new era of its NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING (NJPW) coverage with real-time same-week coverage of the promotions’ biggest events in 2019. The new schedule kicks off with a same-day near-live two-hour broadcast of NJPW’s biggest event of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 13, on Friday, Jan. 4 at 8pE/5pP.

The Wrestle Kingdom special is headlined by IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi and IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho vs. Tetsuya Naito, and will feature the network debut of the NJPW commentary team of Kevin Kelly and Don Callis.

“Same-day coverage of NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 ushers in a new era of NJPW on AXS TV,” said AXS TV FIGHTS CEO Andrew Simon. “Based on the tremendous growth of NJPW on AXS TV, we are making major changes to reward wrestling fans by delivering NJPW in primetime on Friday nights as close to when it takes place as possible.”
