Hogan On Fans & Wrestlers Pulling For Him To Return To WWE & More

ABC affiliate WFTS in Tampa Bay, Florida recently interviewed WWE Legend & Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. Below are the highlights from the interview:
On if he will run for the U.S. Senate in Florida (Donald Trump adviser Roger Stone has said he’s trying to persuade Hogan to run): “No, there’s no truth to that; they tried to reel me in, but I’m a full-time beach bum, I’ve got it made… As far as going into politics and going to Washington and playing softball with everybody shooting at me, forget it. There’s no chance.”
On wanting to wrestle Ric Flair again despite Flair saying he’s done wrestling: “I don’t miss any workouts, I’m 65 years old and I’m trying to talk Ric into getting in the ring with me one more time. Ric seems to forget, maybe he’s been hit in the head with too many steel chairs. In this business – Never say Never.”

On a potential return to WWE: “The fans are pulling for it, wrestlers are pulling for it. We’ve got a really good rapport with everyone and we are working towards it – changing the story and making things right again [with the WWE Universe].”

Huge Star Returning on Raw? Aro Lucha Season 1, Flair & Offset

Monday Night Raw tonight is expected to deal with the fallout from last night’s Elimination Chamber show. In addition to a confrontation between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, it has also been confirmed that Ronda Rousey will be appearing on the program tonight. However, it looks like another top star could be returning to action during the show this evening. According to PWInsider, Kane was in Las Vegas for Elimination Chamber over the weekend and he is now currently backstage for tonight’s episode of Raw in Anaheim, California. Kane has not been seen on WWE television at all ever since Braun Strowman defeated him in a Last Man Standing match. Kane could be returning to the ring tonight for the first time in a month.
One of the most entertaining wrestling programs on television at the moment is Lucha Underground on the El Rey Network. Fans have praised Lucha Underground for its unique take on professional wrestling, interesting characters, and of course, the quality of the talent and matches. With season 4 tapings currently underway, Lucha Underground should be returning to TV in just a matter of time, but perhaps a new Lucha Libre promotion could prove to be just as successful. Aroluxe just recently announced that they will begin filming season 1 of their new Aro Lucha show at an unspecified date later this year. The series will also be written by former WCW and current Impact Wrestling star Konnan.
Believe it or not, there is a lot in common between hip hop artist Snoop Dogg and legendary wrestler Ric Flair. Both often brag about their fortunes, both are considered to be one of the most influential figures in their respective fields, and both men are also members of the WWE Hall of Fame. Snoop also noted during Flair’s recent 30 for 30 ESPN documentary that the former wrestler is beloved by the hip hop community. Case in point, Flair recently posted an image of himself and rapper Offset both wearing his signature entrance robes. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer also noted that he “can’t wait for everyone to see what [he and Offset] have been working on,” perhaps alerting fans of a possible partnership between them.

The Young Bucks on Proving Doubters Wrong, Being The Elite & More

Sports Illustrated recently interviewed ROH & NJPW Stars The Young Bucks for their “Extra Mustard” section. The Young Bucks spoke about their continued success, working with a chip on their shoulder, and Being the Elite. Below are the highlights from the interview:
On proving people wrong:
Matt Jackson: “We’ve made a career out of working with a chip on our shoulder. Maybe that’s why we work so hard? To prove others wrong? The pool of doubters has thinned in recent years, but it’s definitely still around.”

On losing “Too Sweet” and their continued success:
Matt Jackson: “People said our careers were over when the ‘Too Sweet’ hand gesture was taken from us. Now, it doesn’t even feel strange not doing it. People said we only knew how to work one style. Then we switched it up completely. People said Bullet Club had peaked for years now. Yet, here we are, as we continue to help it stay interesting and popular.”
On their Being the Elite series:
Nick Jackson: “I always knew it was going to be big for us, but I’m not sure that I thought it would be this big. Originally I just wanted it all to be shot like a documentary on a weekly basis, but Matt thought of adding storylines and I think that’s what has brought it to heights we didn’t know it would reach. It’s pretty awesome to see and I’m flattered anytime someone says they watch every week.”

Matt Jackson: “We’re very proud of the way everything is going down. This is the most hands-on we’ve ever been with a wrestling angle, so to see people are enjoying it is very rewarding. When we first started using Being The Elite to supplement storylines, it was just a little extra bonus reward for the fans who watched. Something fun to follow along with. Whereas now, it feels like some of the stuff we’ve included on recent episodes are actually must-see, if you’re trying to follow along. Actually, recently, our show has given more detailed content than you might not see from watching only ROH or New Japan.”

Matt Hardy Announces ‘Ultimate Deletion’, WWE/Australia, Rousey

“Woken” Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt have been feuding for months now, but most of their matches have just consisted of normal singles matches. However, their next battle against each other promises to be far more interesting Hardy announced on Raw that it will be taking place at The Hardy Compound. The match is being called “The Ultimate Deletion.” A video featuring Hardy’s home, Vanguard1, and the Dilapidated Boat was shown, proving Hardy’s promises to fans that segments similar to Impact’s “Final Deletion” match will be taking place soon to be true. No word on when the match will be taking place just yet, but it could definitely be a fun match for fans of Hardy’s “Broken” gimmick in Impact Wrestling.

It was reported several months back by Pro Wrestling Sheet that WWE was considering hosting a major event in Australia later this year. The concept was later reported again a few weeks back, and WWE has now confirmed those reports to be accurate. Raw announcer Michael Cole confirmed during this week’s edition of Raw that WWE will be hosting an event in Australia later this year. Details were kept to a minimum, but the event is rumored to held in the massive Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium in October. The company is also expecting to top the attendance of 50,000 people that came to the last show in the stadium back in 2002 (possibly by double the original number.) Official details are expected to be released during WrestleMania weekend.

Ronda Rousey has arrived on Monday Night Raw and she is now confirmed to appear on every single show between now and WrestleMania. Some have wondered whether or not Rousey will be occasionally appearing on live events like Brock Lesnar currently does. According to a new report from PWInsider, WWE is already considering the idea as Rousey is now rumored for an upcoming live event on March 16th. The event takes place in Madison Square Garden, making it Rousey’s first appearance in the famous arena (aside from press events) if she is booked for the show. Rousey’s first match in a WWE ring will see her team up with Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania.

Lesnar Attacks a Referee, News on Austin Aries at ROH, Ric Flair

Brock Lesnar is currently debating his future in WWE at the moment as he is reportedly considering leaving the company in favor of returning to UFC. Brock Lesnar will be appearing on Monday Night Raw to have a confrontation with a Roman Reigns prior to their upcoming Unviersal Championship match at WrestleMania in New Orleans, Louisiana. For now though, Lesnar just made an appearance at a recent live event in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He competed in a match against Intercontinental Championship The Miz in a non-title match. Lesnar went on to defeat The Miz in just under 90 seconds, then he laid waste to The Miztourage and the referee in the match.

Austin Aries shocked the world last night when he appeared at last night’s 16th anniversary show for Ring of Honor. He challenged Kenny King for his ROH Television title and brought all of the titles that he has won in other promotions, including Impact Wrestling. Several fans have been wondering how Aries was able to appear for ROH since he is the world champion for Impact. According to a report for PWInsider, Aries is not actually under contract to Imapct Wrestling. This is why he was able to appear during last night’s ROH event even though he works for a rival promotion. Impact Wrestling was never mentioned during Aries’ apprearance at ROH last night.

Ric Flair is one of the most legendary performers in the history of pro wrestling, but lately he has been cementing his place as a pop culture icon. Flair’s recent 30 for 30 ESPN special was praised by critics and audiences, and he also just appear per inter music video for rapper Offset’s song Ric Flair Drip. It looks like Flair has just landed a couple of acting roles. Flair has already been confirmed to appear and serve as executive producer of a film called ‘Uncle Steamroller & Champion Rabbit.’ According to The Wrap, Flair has just joined another movie called Easter. Flair will play himself and will be joined by Glenn Close, Carl Weathers, Joe Leland, Reginald VelJohnson.

CM Punk to Fight at UFC 225, Jeff Hardy is in Ultimate Deletion

CM Punk was one of the biggest professional wrestlers in the world just a few years ago, but that all changed once he controversially walked away from his job in WWE back in 2014. Punk would then go on to rant against WWE’s management team and medical staff during an Art of Wrestling podcast. It seems like a return to the squared circle may never come for the former WWE Champion. He later announced that he was joining UFC to begin an MMA career for himself. Punk has not competed in a fight ever since his debut MMA fight at the UFC 203 event, but he has reportedly been training for his next fight over the past few months. A return to the octagon has still not been confirmed for Punk just yet by UFC.

However, the former professional wrestler just recently may have indicated when his second fight will be taking place. After responding to some trolls on Twitter asking if Punk will ever be back in the octagon, Punk stated that he will be competing on June 9th of this year. Coincidentally, that just so happens to be the date that the UFC 225 event takes place in the United Center from Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois. As mentioned, UFC has not announced Punk for the show just yet, nor has Punk’s opponent been hinted at just yet. Punk last competed at UFC 203 in September 2016 when he lost to Micky Gall by submission via rear-naked choke. Punk may get another chance to win very soon.

It was reported late last night that current Raw Superstar Jeff Hardy was arrested over the weekend for driving while impaired. There is still no word on what this may mean for Hardy’s status in WWE, but it looks like Hardy was set to return to the company very soon. Pro Wrestling Sheet confirmed that Hardy appeared in Matt Hardy’s upcoming Ultimate Deletion match. There is no word on when the match will air or if Hardy will still be involved in it, nor have any details on the nature of Hardy’s cameo been released. Jeff Hardy is reportedly waiting for WWE doctors to clear him from his recent injury, but his return to the ring could be delayed even further if his recent arrest turns out to be more serious.

War Machine Debuts in NXT, Bate Out of Dusty Classic, Undertaker

War Machine tore it up on the independent wrestling circuit for a number of years. The team of Hanson and Raymond Rowe became one of the most hard-hitting and dominating tag teams in the business. WWE officially announced that the pair had signed with NXT back in January, but they have yet to compete in an actual match. However, the two made a surprise appearance at an NXT live event in Sebring, Florida and they cut a promo on the NXT tag team division. War Machine had all of their usual gear on when they came out and the two then put every tag team on NXT on notice. It shouldn’t be long before the tag team officially arrives on the NXT roster.

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic rolls on in NXT with just one more first round match to go. Next week’s show was set to feature a match featuring Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan taking on Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, but unfortunately, that match now appears to be off the table. WWE recently posted a video on their YouTube channel wherein Tyler Bate confirmed that he has tweaked his knee and was thereby not cleared by WWE doctor to participate in the tournament. The Wrestling Observer did report that Bate suffered a minor knee injury earlier this week, so it seems that he and Seven truly are being taken out of this year’s tournament. No word on who will replace ‘Mustache Mountain’ as of now.

The Undertaker has been wrestling in WWE for over 25 years, making him one of the longest-tenured WWE Superstars of all time. While he does not compete full time anymore, he does still wrestle each year at WrestleMania, and it looks like “The Deadman” could be on his way back very soon to face John Cena at this year’s event in New Orleans, Louisiana. Until then, WWE has decided to release some of Undertaker’s rarest matches on the WWE Network and on YouTube. One recent match uploaded to online is a casket match between “The Phenom” and Vader from a live event in Madison Square Garden in 1997. Feel free to check out the match posted down below:

Ronda Rousey Talks About Beating Stephanie McMahon At Mania, More

Planeta Wrestling recently interviewed Ronda Rousey regarding her current mindset in WWE, her favorite WrestleMania moments, and what she can bring to the women’s division. Below are the highlights from the interview:
On who she would like to face in WWE: “Right now, all of my focus is on Stephanie [McMahon], and that’s it. I kind of have blinders on when I’m focused on something. When I’m focused on something that’s my whole universe. [Right now, it’s] Stephanie McMahon, and beating the hell out of her at WrestleMania is the center of my whole universe. And I really can’t afford to be focusing on anyone else other than her.”
On her favorite WrestleMania moments: “As a kid, I just remember Hulk Hogan being my hero. My family didn’t sit down and go, ‘Oh, we’re going to watch WrestleMania together!’ it was just always on. I live in North Dakota, so wrestling is really big out there and it was just on TV. I was too little to understand, ‘Oh, this is this event and that’s that event.’ Now that I’m older, WrestleMania I is of course my favorite, Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan. … That was something that I grew to appreciate as an adult.”

On what can she bring to the WWE women’s division: “I don’t want to change anything that the women have been doing, they’ve been doing an amazing job. They’ve really been able to change the industry for the better and just the way people look at the women out there. I just consider myself a catalyst. I’m here to speed the process up and to make sure the hard work that they’ve been doing is seen and appreciated by more people.”

Edge, Randy Orton & Becky Lynch appearing on WWE Raw next week

A few appearances have been confirmed for next week’s post-Money in the Bank episode of Raw.

During commercials that aired during Raw tonight, it was announced that Edge, Randy Orton, and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will be appearing next Monday. It will be the first time Edge and Orton have appeared since their last man standing match at WrestleMania 36 and the first time Lynch has been on Raw since April 13.

Edge defeated Orton in their last man standing match at WrestleMania. The advertisement announcing their appearances for next week said Edge would be hunting Orton, but it then asked if the hunter will become the hunted.

Lynch’s appearance on next week’s Raw will be to confront the winner of the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, and Carmella are the participants for Sunday’s women’s MITB ladder match. The men’s and women’s ladder matches are being held at WWE headquarters and are taking place simultaneously.

Lynch was most recently in action when she retained her Raw Women’s Championship against Baszler at WrestleMania.
