Six teams ready for Izmir

Six teams has qualified from the 2nd round of European Qualification. Slovakia, Netherlands, France and Greece joined previous qualifiers Estonia and Bulgaria.

Slovakia deserved first place in Pool A. In decisive match against Czech Republic team of E. Zanini won first two set and secured direct pass to Turkey. Slovak head coach Emanuele Zanini admitted they selected good tactics and put up better attacks. “After having won the two sets, we let the other six players enter the court in order to give them the chance to gain a certain international experience”, he added.

Netherlands did not face any big trouble in Pool B. With six victories and just one lost set Netherlands got through qualification. Slovenian opponent in the 3rd round will be Portugal.

Also France qualified easy for the European Championship 2009 in Turkey. Macedonia has to knock down Czech Republic in the 3rd round of qualification to qualify for the European Championship.

Greece finished first in Pool B due to better set ratio. In Belgium Greece lost 3:2, in Athens Greek team outplayed Belgian national team 3:0. Belgium will meet in the 3rd round of European Qualification strong Poland.

Welcome to the new AllWrestling

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages…
The Nation Network proudly brings to you, the wrestling news and hype champions of the world? Alright that was all very cheesy but here I am to introduce myself, your Commish. I have been a fan of wrestling since a young lad and when I was given the chance to run AllWrestling (and by given I mean I was in the room when the powers that be asked “who the hell could we get to run this thing”) I jumped in with both feet. Admittedly, I have been disenfranchised in recent years by the writing but the fire of that kid that would get mocked feverishly by his father for watching “fake wrestling” is still alive and this site will be where I let that go.
As for the site, All Wrestling is back and better than ever. The new site is made with you the fans in mind. Our layout is easier on the eye and allows us to take this thing into all kinds of different angles. A new world is born with a new looking site and a lot of room to grow.

Part of that room to grow is within our writing staff. We are looking for passionate fans of wrestling (we know a lot of you are) that want to have their voices heard.
No professional writing experience needed, all I need from you is a message to [email protected] with a brief description of what you would like to bring to the site and if possible an example of your writing.

1-0 for Macerata and Trento

Macerata and Trentino won the first semifinal duels at home. Macerata claimed 3:0 victory while Trentino had to face come back of Cuneo in third and fourth set.

Macerata took the initiatives in the first set. It built a 18-13 lead but Piacenza got back in it and forced De Giorgi to take a time out at 22-20. But then on the serve came Rak, who put Piacenza’s reception in trouble. Piacenza failed to tie and Mvp Matteo Martino took care of the rest. The Italian international took over in the second set and Macerata’s work at the net terribly limited the opponent’s attack. A couple fo change (Bravo and Marshall came on) were made in vain, as the percentages in attack and reception diminished and Macerata escaped with a 25-15 win. Lorenzetti changed his line up in the third to find balance in reception, but Omrcen made two aces all the same to go 14-9 up. Mirko Corsano’s dig was a big key too, he seemed to be everywhere. Thanks to Bravo and Rak, again, Piacenza got back within one, but once again, after a timeout, Macerata find the necessary resources to keep Piacenza at safe disatnce. Lorenzetti’s team has nop choice but to forget quickly this game before meeting again in the PalaBanca.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “This 3-0 should not deceive anyone, it has not been as easy as it might look. We did a great job of responding everty time they try to get back in the game. This is the key of our success and we will need to keep this mentality against this team, which digs a lot and never gives up”.

Joao Paulo Bravo (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “The key to the game has been our serve, which did not work at all as it should have been. Vermiglio was left to play at ease. To limit such a string attack like that, was really difficult”.

A full house in Trento witnessed the home team got off to a strong start with some good reactive work at the net. Without Nikolov, the starting outside hitter, Prandi’s team was not accurate in serve and attack, where Bribanti seemed to be tense. The impression was that Trento was one level above, and the second set confirmed this, as Cuneo appeared to be tired. Vissotto and Winiarski led the team to a 2-0 lead. Cuneo started to play in the third set with Wijmans and Nuti as leaders. As time went on, the determination and belief increased. Trento faded in reception and attack but it remained tight. In the end, after wasting 7 set points, Cuneo eventually snatched it 32-30.

The game was getting interesting and exciting. In the fourth set, Stoychev sent Leonardi for Piscopo, then every Trento fan held its breath as Winiarski hurt his ankle and was substituted by Della Lunga. Cuneo had its main man in Bribanti, who gained the advantage on his serve. Trento failed to react and it was all down to the last set.

Cuneo believed in its chance to win it while Trento hanged in. Wijmans responded to Vissotto and then Stoychev sent Riad on. And that’s precisely the brazilian partnership Riad-Vissotto that sent Trento celebrating the first point of the semi final.

Andrea Bari (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Our excellent end of game made up for the middle part which has been particularly brilliant, we had struggled to receive Cuneo’s serve. Tonight’s victory shows that we have a complete squad, with many possibilities. Our team knows how to fight till the end. At 2-0 up, the game changed but we managed to focus again on the game. It is a very important victory”.

Silvano Prandi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “When Nuti came on, this allowed Biribanti to make his mark on the game, because our second outisde hitter has a better understanding with him. In this game, we managed to do what we had successfully done against Montichiari over the five games. We got back well in the game but we paid the price for the too many mistakes made in the tie-break”.

World league finals ready to start!

The six teams that will play in the Final Round of the 2009 FIVB World League in Belgrade, were finalized this weekend in a climactic end to Intercontinental Round play.

Hosts Serbia, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Russia and the United States make up the Final Six. The teams will be divided into two Final Round Pools, with Serbia, the United States and Russia in Pool E and Argentina, Brazil and Cuba in Pool F. The top two teams from each Pool will advance to the Final Four.

In Pool A, the United States managed to stave off a late surge from Italy to top the standings and book their ticket to Belgrade. The U.S. cemented its place atop the table with a 3-0 victory over the Netherlands on Friday, while the Italians failed to win maximum points from China in their final match, winning a closely contested encounter 2-3 in two hours and six minutes. By dropping points to China, Italy failed to qualify as the second-place team with the most points (that honor went to Russia in Pool C).

“I am happy with the win,” Italian coach Andrea Anastasi said Saturday. “But the process is more important to us now than the result, because we ranked second and failed to qualify for the Final Six.”

In Pool B, since leaders Serbia had already received a bye to the Final Round as host, Argentina joined the Final Six as the second-place team in the Pool after 3-1 and 3-2 wins over third-place France in Round 6. The victories left Argentina three points ahead of France in the race for second. “These are the types of matches that make a team better, and Argentina is on the path of becoming a great team,” said Argentina coach Javier Weber. “Our first goal, which we achieved, was to play the next match better than the last one. Our next goal is to finish among the best four teams at this World League tournament.”

In Pool C, Russia crushed Bulgaria in straight sets twice in Round 6 to earn their berth in the Final Six. Daniele Bagnoli, coach of Russia: “Today a small sport miracle happened. This victory is a child of Italy’s loss of points against China. Today my team show a great spirit and ability for a quality volleyball. Psycological level was the best and we have shown that even under pressure we may be a good team. If Italy won everything it would be a different match today. Many thanks for the magnificient atmosphere in the gym – the crowd was incredible.”

While Cuba, which defeated Japan 3-0 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday, also advanced. Cuba leapfrogged Russia into first place on Saturday with their win. “None of us has played in a final before, but we’ll go to Belgrade willing to play our guts out,” Cuba captain Roberlandy Simon said. “Every rival from now on will be tough. We have to play hard against everybody.”

In Pool D, Brazil stood triumphant as the best team in the entire tournament so far, compiling an 11-1 record after two comfortable wins over Venezuela this weekend. The Brazilians finished a whopping 12 points clear of runners-up Finland, who failed in their attempt to qualify for the Final Round as the best second-place team when they lost 3-2 to Poland on Thursday.

WEEKLY GOODS (Aug. 26-30)

Hello AW Universe,
Every Friday, I look back on the week that was in the world of (mostly WWE) wrestling.
Here are the GOODS from the week that was.

Oh Sasha. Your heel turn has been a wonderful change of pace. But… Oh my, that promo to open Monday Night Raw was painful to sit through. It’s great that we’re getting Bad Sasha Banks, and I’m all about a heel being bad without really telling us why, but there has to be an angle that makes it compelling (e.g. Chris Jericho’s 2011 return, when he didn’t speak for three weeks). Fumbling through an incoherent promo isn’t really the best way to build heat for a solid heel run. I’m still here for this turn, I’m just waiting for it to make a little more sense.
Yes. Shinsuke and Sami, yes. Berate and and kick the shit out of every wrestler on the roster. This pairing is magnificent.
The only thing better than a magnificent pairing? A GLORIOUS pairing. Though it was no doubt the strangest outcome of the Tag Team Turmoil match, I’m in for Zig-Roode. This match did it’s job: kept Gallows & Anderson (I refuse to call them The O.C.) and The Viking Raiders looking strong; showcased Heavy Machinery; had a swerve ending. Both these guys are great pros, so doing anything to keep them on every card is worthwhile.
Quick King of the Ring takes:

Winning the tournament is made for a heel to do it. Not saying that a babyface can’t or shouldn’t win, but the gimmick is best maximized from a heel winner, so it seemed a little strange to see Ricochet go over Drew McIntyre so cleanly. Ricochet just doesn’t seem like he needs the rub, and McIntyre needs a little more legitimacy. And with Ricochet and Cedric Alexander on the same side of the bracket, there’s no way these wrestlers face each other on the Raw side so one’s losing next week.
So with that being said, who loses? The right answer should be Samoa Joe beating Ricochet and putting Alexander over in the semi-final, but with BARON CORBIN beating The Miz, I worry that we’re headed for Corbin/Ricochet semi, with a deep Corbin run.
Is Buddy Murphy still getting a push? No, not until he gets a haircut and finally decided on trunks or tights and not the wrestler version of capris with the dangly things. So, that’s why Ali went over him.
Great underdog win by Chad Gable overcoming his height and beating SHELTON BENJAMIN is inspiring… Until he loses to Andrade (the future King!) next week.
RAW final: Corbin/Ricochet; Smackdown final: Ali/Andrade.

BAYLEY! Please, someone read this and change her gimmick already. Walking out to the Citizens of the Bouncy Castle Kingdom with a frickin hugging emoji on the titantron is horribly lame. She has so much talent, and the little edge she’s been showing lately is great so I hope it’s a hint and not a tease to a change in her gimmick.
Orton is still one of the best. I want him to go over Kofi at Clash of Champions. It’ll build a so much heat and make it sweeter for Kofi to come back and win it back from him.
No sign of “The Fiend” at all this week. And this is great. Keep him fresh.
Daniel Bryan, you are a treasure. This Roman Reigns angle is on the verge of falling off the cliff from “intrigue” into the chasm of “stupidity,” but I’m still into it and it’s because of Bryan.

“I just hate liars.”

Take it to the Table- Hell in a Cell Rant

Hello Gang,
I have returned to AllWrestling.com *Huge Pop* and welcome to a new RANT Special of Take It To The Table.
Now…If you are an avid Wrestling Fan like me, there’s a high chance you have watched WWE Hell In A Cell 2019, and there’s also a high chance the only thing you can remember the HIAC PPV in the Main Event. Not because of the awesome spots or the amazing storytelling, not because of the twists and swerves in the match, and not because of the ‘incredible lighting’. But for the absolute ridiculousness and poor direction they went with.

I had to do an episode for this..or should I say Rant, and I had my boy Ridez alongside me, and he did NOT hold back. If you’ve seen previous episodes, Ridez is usually the humble one in the group, so if you get him shouting and swearing, you know you done f’d up!
And we also touch on the first night of the WWE Draft as well…Ridez did not see it at the time of recording, but after being told what happened, he did not hold back!
Anyways, enough reading and let’s get into this Hilarious episode with myself ESGR Chaos and Ridez and most importantly, let’s Take It……To The Table!
