Pro Wrestling Legend & AEW Star Chris Jericho was recently interviewed by the folks from Express in The U.K. on a number of topics. During the interview, Jericho talked about AEW’s Double Or Nothing Event which is set to take place on May 25th from The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada where the main event will see “The Ayatollah Of Rock ‘N’ Rolla” take on Kenny Omega. Jericho said that it’s a smart move to push some of the promotion’s biggest matches in their first event.
Jericho said, “It’s like All In, that’s pretty much what you can expect,” Jericho said. “You can see the card, the card is shaping up to be [in a way that] every match is a main event match. We sold the show out in four minutes, the tickets were gone. It’s a great way to kick off this brand new promotion with some of the biggest matches you could possibly give right off the bat.”
“That is a smart move, you don’t want to wait to build Jericho vs. Omega II or Bucks vs. Lucha Bros, there’s nothing to build. This is the build, you start off with your biggest matches and let people know what’s going on at this company that’s different from the rest of the companies because I think it’s pretty much more focused on the quality of the matches, on making sense on everything that we do.”
He continued with, “I think that’s one of the differences that you’re going to see right off the bat as to what kind of show we’re going to run and will set the tone for the company’s existence in this part.”
CM Punk recently made a run-in at MKE Wrestling’s The Last Knight Event, which could mean that he still has an interest in returning to Pro Wrestling. While he hasn’t given a hint on which promotion he could end up in, Jericho believes that AEW would be a great fit for The Former WWE Champion.
Jericho said, “It’s a pretty obvious answer,” Jericho responded. “I don’t know if he wants to wrestle, but if he decides to, I think AEW would be the perfect place for him.”
Manheim, Pennsylvania — Penn State, winners of the last four NCAA Division I team championships and eight of the last nine, opens up the 2019-20 college wrestling season ranked No. 1, and atop the NWCA Division I Coaches Poll for the 33rd straight week. The Nittany Lions went 14-0 in 2018-19 and start a third consecutive season ranked No. 1 in the nation.
The preseason dual meet poll, released Tuesday by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, includes six Big Ten teams in the Top 10 as Penn State is followed by No. 2 Iowa, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 5 Nebraska, No. 6 Wisconsin and No. 7 Wisconsin. Penn State and fourth-ranked Oklahoma State were the only two Division I teams to go unbeaten in dual competition in 2018-19. Penn State is riding the fifth-best dual meet win streak in major college history at 59 dual wins in a row. The record among Division I schools is 76, set by Oklahoma State from 1937-1951. Penn State’s last loss was February 15, 2015, to Oklahoma State. The longest current active win streak is in the NAIA, where Grand View has won 72 duals in a row. The all-time collegiate record is 92 dual wins in a row, set by NJCAA member SUNY-Dehli, which set the mark across five seasons from 1979-83.
Oklahoma State is the lone Big 12 team in the Top 10, while No. 8 Arizona State represents the Pac-12, Missouri the Mid-American Conference at No. 9 and NC State the ACC at No. 10.
This year, the Division I wrestling world sees a few changes as three programs enter the Division I wrestling landscape: Little Rock (Pac-12), Long Island University (EIWA) and Presbyterian (SoCon). This brings the number of Division I programs to 79, with Cal Baptist in its second year transitioning from Division II. The Eastern Wrestling League was absorbed by the Mid-American Conference, creating a 15-team league that spans from Missouri to New York.
The Big Ten again dominates the poll, with eight of its 14 teams represented. The Big 12 and the ACC each have five schools represented, while the EIWA and MAC have three apiece. Arizona State is the Pac-12’s only ranked team.
The NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll is voted on by two coaches from each Division I wrestling conference. Each first-place vote is worth 25 points, 24 points for a second-place vote, 23 for a third-place vote and so on through to one point for a 25th-place vote.

The Gopher wrestling program is pleased to announce the addition of five new commits in the 2024 graduating class. Sam Skillings, Brady Spaeth, Isaiah Salazar, Aaron Nagao, and Ben Lunn are all officially now Maroon and Gold grapplers.
Collectively, the new class represents four different states and has won multiple combined state titles.
”We are very excited to welcome these five athletes into the Gopher Wrestling family,” head coach Brandon Eggum said. “This class has four wrestlers ranked in the Top-200 of Flo’s overall rankings. All five young men are great people, quality students, and tough wrestlers. We feel this class resembles some of the Gopher classes in the past that have come in and done great things on and off the mat.”
Isaiah Salazar (Greeley, CO)
A three-time state champion in three attempts, Salazar is leaving a Colorado High School powerhouse for a Midwestern powerhouse.
The Colorado native is 106-6 through three seasons after going 43-0 last season en route to a 182-pounds title. He had previously won the 170-pound title in 2018 and the 152-pound title in 2017.
Per the FloWrestling Big Board, Salazar is a Top-75 prospect overall a top-ten at his weight class.
Salazar will mark the first Colorado native on the Gophers roster since Cody Yohn in the 2012-13 season.
Coach Eggum on Isaiah: “Isaiah is coming to Minnesota from Greeley, Colorado. He is a top-ranked big man who has excelled in four sports in high school. He has been a star on the football field, on the baseball diamond, in track, and on the wrestling mat. He will be looking for his fourth state title this year. Isaiah is a big strong wrestler who attacks well on his feet and can get turns on top. Isaiah will be a staple in our line up during his time here.”
Aaron Nagao (Esperanza, CA)
One of the top lightweight recruits in his class, Nagao comes to the Midwest from Orange County. Nagao joins a growing list of California natives wearing the Maroon and Gold singlet.
The three-time California placer and a two-time finalist, Nagao became state champion after winning the 126-pound title last season and enters his senior season ranked No.9 in the nation by FloWrestling. Through his first three seasons, Nagao has a 130-8 record including an undefeated junior campaign.
A passionate Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast, Nagao has international success in the sport. With all that on his resume, Nagao has been praised as one of the best lightweight prospects in the nation by numerous wrestling recruiting outlets.
Coach Eggum on Aaron: “Aaron is a California State Champion from the Orange County area. Aaron is an extremely exciting wrestler who will put up big points for our team. He is great on top and can scramble with the best of them. He will be a nightmare for opponents to wrestle against in college. Aaron is coached by former Gopher Wrestler Josh Holiday and his brothers.”
Ben Lunn (Shakopee, MN)
Staying in his home state of Minnesota, Lunn has been a key member of the recent Shakopee High School wrestling dynasty in recent years.
Lunn is a two-time state finalist, first at 113-pounds and then 120-pounds this past season. Plus, he’s also accomplished in the classroom and has two been named to the Academic All-State Team.
Lunn joins fellow Shakopee natives Brent Jones and Owen Webster on the Gophers roster.
Coach Eggum on Ben: “Ben is a local wrestler coming to us from Shakopee. Ben wrestles at a hard pace and is very difficult to score on. He is a technical wrestler that as he continues to put size and strength on will be a very strong asset to the program. Ben is a great kid and will be a leader for our squad because of the way he handles his business.”
Spaeth, a Cadott High School product, joins the Gophers after a season in Wisconsin where he is coming off of a 2019 state title at 160-pounds.
After winning that state title, Spaeth earned a spot in the FloWrestling Top 200 Big Board.
Coach Eggum on Brady: “Brady is from Cadott, Wisconsin. He is the most high-flying wrestler of the group. He is very athletic, powerful and not afraid to attack. He is a state champion and national finalist. His work ethic is strong and the desire to be great is there. We feel like the sky’s the limit for him here at Minnesota.”
Sam Skillings (Menominee, WI)
Skillings hops across the border from Eastern Wisconsin to start his Gophers career in the Twin Cities. Skillings, who has trained with the Menomonie Wrestling Club in addition to his high school team, is an accomplished upper weight when it comes to folkstyle as well as any freestyle matches.
Coach Eggum on Sam: “Along with Brady, Sam is also from the Western Wisconsin area coming to Minneapolis from Menomonie. Sam is a strong wrestler who has excelled in both folkstyle and freestyle. His leg attacks are very good and hard to defend. He’s been a Fargo finalist, a state finalist and we feel like the best is yet to come for him.”

It’s no secret that most members of the WWE Universe do not embrace RAW heel Baron Corbin. If you troll through social media feeds on Mondays, you will inevitably come across angst for Corbin and the booking of his matches, especially ones in the main event scene.
On Saturday, Corbin clapped back at some of the social media criticism from fans. He responded to one fan criticizing an announced match between him and Ricochet for RAW on Monday and also a few others who made fun of his persona wearing dress clothes to the ring. Here is the interaction between Corbin and the fans:
So as a fan we are supposed to get excited no build and no story. Ok their both in MITB. But what’s the heat to have the match. Did Corbin attack Ricochet after his match last week. Did Ricochet rain on Corbin parade after after winning his match. Just promoting a cold match
— Jeremy Sasser (@gvblover) May 11, 2019
As a fan you cry if people wrestle each other more than once, you cry if the story doesn’t fit what you want, you cry if it’s just a match. I think you would cry if you picked the matches. Twitter turds are never happy
