MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide our VIP members with the most comprehensive, hard-hitting, engaging, informed stream of immersive podcasts and articles covering pro wrestling from the top independent team of pro wrestling journalists and analysts you’ll find anywhere.
We aim to make pro wrestling more enjoyable for fans who outgrow being blindly loyal to pro wrestling or any particular brand, but still have a passion and curiosity for where the pro wrestling industry goes from here – tracking not just what’s happening, but seeking answers to why it’s happening. Also, we utilize our experience and sources to cut through the daily barrage of false reports and the “click bait” backstage gossip to find out what’s real and true and put it in context.
Although most PWTorch VIP members still watch pro wrestling regularly, some don’t watch much pro wrestling anymore, but instead follow it through our podcasts and articles/newsletters. Most utilize our service to be more engaged than ever with even more viewing of pro wrestling shows (current and historical), watching and then listening to and reading our analysis afterward.
We are journalists, we are independent analysts, and we are forever students of the game, working passionately to help you understand pro wrestling better and enjoy it on a different level than most fans by never stopping our own journey to learn and inquire and decipher everything going on in this fascinating genre.
We are independent. We are unattached to and uncompromised by any affiliation with a pro wrestling company or dependence on cooperation with the companies we cover, so you can trust what we’re saying isn’t hindered by conflicts of interest or fear of losing a current or future job in the industry. There’s less hedging than you’ll find elsewhere, no “fanboy” blind loyalty, and no holding back. But we are also committed to fairness and exploring all sides of decisions that are made by promoters and wrestlers.
Our VIP members don’t fit any single demographic. We have subscribers who are younger than 18 and older than 80, men and women who call more than two dozen countries home. That said, VIP members tend to be longtime fans who are looking for a higher level of analysis than just hearing or reading “super fans” express what they like or don’t like about what they are watching, who crave analysis from people who are as passionate as they are, but bring a level of experience and insight to covering pro wrestling not typically found on free websites or many fan-hosted or celebrity-hosted podcasts. Join us!

John Cena appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” last night. Fallon introduced him as “a sixteen time WWE World Champion and a talented actor.”
Cena told Fallon this is the rowdiest crowd in late night. Fall said he looks sharp and stylish. Cena said he’s spending holidays with his families.
When asked what Christmas was like as a kid, he said it was five boys and they liked all the same stuff, but it was awful because they were very bad kids and deserved coal every year. He said his dad had a rule they couldn’t step too far down the stairs or his sleeping dad would hear them. Eventually they’d wake up their dad, and then there was an unwrapping scene out of Christmas Story with wrapping paper flying everywhere.
Fallon said he read up on his Wikipedia page, and he learned how to play piano or speak Mandarin in his spare time. He said he has a tutor who helps him with Mandarin. Fallon said it’s tough and Cena said, “Yes it is!” Cena practiced some Mandarin on Fallon. Fallon was amazed. He snuck in a plug for his movie, “Ferdinand.” He then joked “those are all the words you can’t say on TV.”
Fallon asked Cena to talk about “Ferdinand,” a book about a bull that doesn’t want to fight, but wants to smell the flowers. Fallon showed a picture of Cena reading to kids at the Library of Congress. Cena said the story is about being different, and being okay with who you are as long as you’re happy. He said he thinks kids and adults will enjoy the movie.
Fallon said he loves the book. He talked about Ferdinand having to go through a China shop. They aired a clip of that scene, with Cena’s voice over.
Cena then performed Mad Lib theater with Fallon after a commercial break. One of the words he chose during Mad Lib for body part was “perineum.” Fallon said he didn’t know what it was and asked if it was a real part, and Cena sang, “The place in between…” at which point Fallon broke out in laughter. When later asked for another body part, Cena asked, “Can I say anus?” Fallon said he could. Then they read the mad lib and laughed uproariously at the humor they created with silly words.

WWE RAW HOLT REPORT
JANUARY 29, 2018
PHILADELPHIA, PA.
REPORT BY MATT ZALUCKI, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT
If you attend a live event, send results and notes to [email protected].
TAPED FOR MAIN EVENT
(1) Bayley pinned Sonya Deville (W/Paige, Mandy Rose). Rose tried to interfere, but Bayley won with a roll-up anyway.
(2) Kalisto & Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik beat TJP & Jacvk Gallagher & Ariya Daivari.
ON-SITE NOTES
-Nearly the entire lower bowl was full. The upper level had one section tapped off, but it was otherwise mostly full with a couple top rows empty in some section. The floor was full of course.
-I’m not from Philly, I’m from upstate New York, and there was too much Eagles gear for my taste! Lots of Eagles chants during the evening. They showed a Viking player during a video package and the crowd booed.
-The crowd didn’t boo or heckle Stephanie McMahon. It was tame, actually. No “C.M. Punk” chants or anything. She didn’t get the normal heel reactions where fans have fun booing her. Maybe the fans were waiting to see Ronda Rousey.
-Braun Strowman got the biggest reaction of the night. Finn Balor’s entrance was a distant second. Asuka got a pretty good pop even though the crowd faded as the match progressed. Nobody else got a huge babyface pop. Roman got a big reaction, but mixed as usual.
-John Cena got a lot of hardcore fan hatred. There were louder pro-Roman Reigns chants than pro-Cena chants.
-The crowd got into the Miz vs. Reigns match as it progressed. By the end of it, there was a “This is awesome!” chant and fewer boos for Reigns. I didn’t think the crowd was allowed to do that! He deserved it, though.
-Cena seemed to let the fans get under his skin more. Cena vs. Finn Balor wasn’t as good as I expected. After the match, off-air, Cena told the crowd that they got under his skin for some reason. I was surprised to hear that. He acted that way during the match. A beach ball did come out during the Cena-Balor match. (Cena is a Patriots fan, and he was in front of Philadelphia Eagles fans. Hmmm.)
-The WWE Raw Tag Team Title match didn’t get much of a response.
-Elias got more boos than he did at the Royal Rumble.
-When Sasha Banks made a faceplant, right before that I told my friend “I hope she doesn’t do it.” The whole crowd gasped. Then we saw the ref check on her and the Asuka continued, so we knew she was okay. Why does she continue to put herself through these moves that she never seems to hit. She puts herself in unnecessary danger.
-At NXT Takeover, they hyped Braun Strowman vs. Kane for Raw tonight, which did take place. There were no dark matches after Raw ended.
-WWE advertised A.J. Styles would defend the WWE Title against Kevin Owens with Daniel Bryan as the special referee the next night in the same arena on Smackdown. (The match would not take place as advertised.)
If you attend a live event, send results and notes to [email protected].

-Executive Vice President of Anthem Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of Impact Wrestling, Ed Nordholm talked to Newsweek about his disappointment with the departure of Jeff Jarrett from his executive team. “[Jarrett] was a great assistance to me,” he said. “Unfortunately, as we got into the summer, I think the stress of trying to [overhaul Impact] clearly was starting to have some impacts on him and his issues to deal with the situation. We had to part ways. I regret that it turned out that way, but I’m grateful for everything he did for me.” Newsweek notes that Nordhom did not go into great detail about the personal issues that plagued Jarrett, “but the wrestling rumor mill swirled with speculation about Jarrett exhibiting erratic behavior at events.” FULL ARTICLE LINK
-In that article, EC3 (Michael Hutter) explained the circumstances of his move from Impact Wrestling to WWE’s NXT this year. “My decision to leave Impact had nothing to with their business or finances and everything with me wanting to challenge myself to something new,” Hutter told Newsweek in a statement dated January 23. “Leaving Impact was a very difficult decision as I had six months left on a very lucrative and talent-friendly contract. Anthem lived up to that contract and always treated me with the utmost respect as a businessman and a person.” FULL ARTICLE LINK

After NXT’s invasions of Raw and SmackDown, The O.C. came to NXT looking for retribution last night.
AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson attacked The Undisputed Era in an angle before the show went on the air. They then opened the episode with a promo, with it setting up a six-man tag main event after Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee & Matt Riddle challenged Styles, Gallows & Anderson.

The match ended in a no contest after Finn Balor and Adam Cole got involved. Balor hit the 1916 DDT on Riddle on the outside. Styles put up the Too Sweet hand signals and Balor responded with the Bullet Club finger guns.
Styles went to hit the Styles Clash on Ciampa, but Cole ran in and gave him a superkick. Cole then hit the Last Shot on Ciampa. Cole and Balor had a staredown as the show closed.

Last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw (7/2) on USA Network drew a 1.80 rating, down from the 1.90 last week and 1.97 the week before. This is a drop-off from the year-ago rating on July 3, 2017, which was 1.91; two years ago Raw drew a 1.87.
The first hour drew a 2.641 million viewers, then grew to 2.822, and then dropped to 2.658.
The averaged viewership of the three hours this week (2.707 million) was actually above last week’s (2.666 million), even though the rating was down, which is a bit of an aberration because the rating takes into account the percentage of people with cable watching averaged over three hours, whereas viewership counts people who watch during the hour regardless of how long they watched. So this show drew more people to watch some of Raw, but their average-length watching was shorter than usual, which only showed up in the rating metric.
Last week’s Raw’s three hours finished in the no. 3, 4, and 5 spots in Monday’s cable ratings in the key 18-49 demographic, according to TVByTheNumbers. It was the most watched non-cable-news program, though, in overall viewership last Monday night.

A US resident deported to Iraq by the Trump administration in June has died, according to friends of the man. Jimmy al-Daoud, an Iraqi Chaldean Catholic who was born in Greece before moving to America aged six months, had never lived in Iraq and did not speak Arabic.
Mr Daoud, a diabetic, was understood to have been living on the streets in Baghdad with no access to insulin, before he died this week.
Click Here: geelong cats guernsey 2019
The administration has targeted over 1,000 Iraqis for deportation, including Chaldean Catholics – a minority which faces discrimination in Iraq.
Mr Daoud was one of the Chaldeans from Michigan given a final order of removal, although he challenged the decision in court.
Edward Bajoka, an immigration lawyer a friend of Mr Daoud’s, said he was a paranoid schizophrenic whose mental health "was the primary reason for his legal issues that led to his deportation".
Daoud, 41, had a criminal conviction for disorderly conduct and served 17 months for a home invasion.
Writing on Facebook, Mr Bajoka said: “Rest In Peace Jimmy. Your blood is on the hands of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and this administration.”
In an undated video, Mr Daoud says: “Immigration agents pulled me over and said I’m going to Iraq. I’ve never been there. I’ve been in this country my whole life, since pretty much birth … They refused to listen to me.”
He describes sleeping on the streets of Baghdad, unable to communicate with Iraqis and vomiting because of a lack of insulin.
Andy Levin, Democrat representative for Michigan, said that deporting the US resident to a place where he ultimately lacked access to medical care “put his life in extreme danger.”
"Jimmy al-Daoud should have never been sent to Iraq," he said in a written statement. "My Republican colleagues and I have repeatedly called on the executive branch to cease deportation of such vulnerable people. Now, someone has died."
President Donald Trump he has been threatening large-scale raids to catch undocumented immigrants.
Martin Manna of the Chaldean Community Foundation in Michigan said that many people are concerned about whether they will be deported next.
“There’s a tremendous amount of anxiety in the community,” he said. “Iraq’s not a safe place for many of the people who are being sent back.”
