Les films n’ont pas tous été vus, mais des favoris pour les prochains Oscars se dégagent déjà, parmi lesquels “The Artist”, “Minuit à Paris” ou le remake de “Millenium”.
Chaque année c’est le même sketch : une fois l’été terminé, Hollywood remplace “recettes” par “récompenses” dans la bouche des gens, et se tourne tout naturellement vers le point culminant de cette période, les Oscars. Preuve en est cet article publié sur le blog du Los Angeles Times, dans lequel sont énoncés les 10 favoris pour la statuette du Meilleur Film, alors que certains n’ont pas encore été vus, à l’image de Millenium, J. Edgar, Cheval de guerre ou La Dame de fer. On notera quand même, dans cette liste, la présence de The Artist (ce qui n’est pas une surprise vu que la rumeur court depuis Cannes), Minuit à Paris, ou le doublé réalisé par George Clooney avec The Descendants et Les Marches du Pouvoir. Mais n’y voyez rien d’autre que des pronostics, faits très très en amont, surtout que l’article mentionne également ceux qui pourraient s’incruster dans la course, à savoir 17 autres longs métrages qui vont d’Albert Nobbs à Young Adult, en passant par Harry Potter et les reliques de la mort – partie 2, Hugo Cabret, Carnage, La Piel que Habito ou The Tree of Life. Et puisque la compétition semble être lancée, vous pouvez aussi faire votre sélection.

TORONTO (Reuters) ― The shift to electric vehicles and other low-carbon technologies could disrupt crude oil demand on a similar scale to the coronavirus pandemic, Suncor Energy Inc.’s chief executive said on Monday.
The comments are a stark prediction in an industry that frequently downplays the impact of electrification and points to forecasts of rising global oil demand to justify new investment and pipeline expansions.
Canada is the world’s fourth-largest oil producer and the sector accounts for 10.6 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product.

“While Canadian oil and gas will remain a significant part of the global energy mix for some time, we have to take advantage of new opportunities that offer attractive growth prospects,” Suncor CEO Mark Little said in an opinion article for Canada’s Corporate Knights magazine.
“The temporary economic lockdown triggered by the 2020 pandemic is giving us a glimpse into a not-too-distant future where the transformation of our energy system could disrupt demand on a similar scale.”
Economic shutdowns to limit the outbreak’s spread ground travel to a halt, cutting fuel demand by roughly 30 per cent worldwide. Suncor, Canada’s number two oil producer, curtailed output and cut its dividend by more than half.
The sector also faces mounting pressure from a growing number of investors who screen companies based on environmental, social and governance guidelines.
Norway’s $1 trillion wealth fund in May blacklisted Suncor and other large oil sands producers for producing excessive greenhouse gas emissions.
Little called for federal investment to help the industry diversify into hydrogen, renewable jet fuel and carbon fiber.
Bitumen is rich in asphaltenes, the feedstock for carbon fiber, used for producing lighter vehicles including EVs, he said.
“If we can figure out how to do this affordably at scale, it has the potential to quadruple the revenue from Alberta’s current bitumen output,” he wrote.

McLaren’s Lando Norris says he’ll be relying on Max Verstappen for insight into how to deal with his future teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
Norris and Ricciardo will be racing together at McLaren next season and the combo is expected to pick up where Norris and Ferrari-bound Carlos Sainz will have left off at the end of the year in terms of light-hearted humour and banter.
But the duo is also perceived as an interesting pairing that could prove fiercely competitive on the track.
“It’s hard to know what to expect until you are really there,” Norris said during an Instagram live with Sky Sports.
“Before 2018, no one really had the same perspective of Carlos until last year. He really shone a lot more and his personality came out a lot more.
“I want to say that was a bit down to me and how open I was as a teammate but there was never these memes about Carlos in 2018 or before that. In 2019 and 2020 everything exploded a lot more.

“So, from the outside you never really know what to expect, or know much about a driver until you work with them. That was the same for me with Carlos.
“It’s the same with Daniel. Obviously, I know Daniel a little bit more than I did Carlos going into the season.
“But there’s still a lot of things I don’t know with how he works and how sneaky he is with things – more behind the scenes kind of stuff. I will find out next year.”
Just before his graduation to a race seat at McLaren for 2019, Norris received some good pointers from Verstappen on Sainz along whom the Dutchman raced at Toro Rosso in 2015.
And Verstappen – Norris’ Esports partner in crime – will once again be the young Briton’s go-to source of information on his future Australian teammate.
“Max gives me a lot of good tips, he knew a lot about Carlos,” said Norris. “He knows a lot about Daniel. That’s part of it, you’ve got to get to know your teammates.
“As much as you want to get along, and sometimes they don’t, you want to know what their weaknesses are and their strengths are and so on. If anyone can tell me them then that’s a benefit.
“You want to have fun in F1 and that’s what I want to do, but at the same time you need to work well with your teammate and as a team, but your biggest competitor is also your teammate.
“It’s going to be tough and there’s going to be a lot of things I need to learn from Daniel, but whoever has tips on what makes Daniel angry, I’m sure Max will be the guy to ask.”
