Il climber austriaco Gerhard Hörhager mette in allerta gli arrampicatori sul pericolo valanghe in alcune falesie dello Zillertal, Austria.

Le Alpi dello Zillertal sono famose non solo per il trekking e lo sci ma anche per l’arrampicata. Così non sono pochi i climbers che progettano un viaggio nello Zillertal per le prossime vacanze pasquali. Per questo pubblichiamo questa, se volete inusuale, “allerta valanghe” destinata ai climber e diffusa dal fortissimo Gerhard Hörhager ovvero da uno dei “custodi” delle innumerevoli falesie dello Zillertal. Dunque: se a Pasqua o nelle settimane successive siete diretti da quelle parti prendete nota: vi servirà per scegliere la falesia giusta.

Zillertal, arrampicata e pericolo valanghe

Attualmente c’è cosi tanta neve sulle cima sopra la valle che il pericolo di valanghe in alcune zone (e anche sugli accessi) è un problema serio. Gli arrampicatori che vogliono trascorre la Pasqua nello Zillertal devono assolutamente rispettare le chiusure di alcune strade e sentieri.

Le seguente zone sono a rischio: Maruschkas Gartl, Bachhexe, Wig / Wam (via sul lato della montagna), Tulfer, Gschlössel e Roßhaag Wasserfall, e le zone boulder Sundergrund, Zemmschlucht, Klausenalm e Kaserler (i boulder che danno verso il ruscello). Il parcheggio accanto al ponte è anche esposto alle valanghe. Per favore non visitate queste zone nei prossimi giorni e durante la Pasqua. Attenzione anche a Oberen Bergstation, c’è ancora molto ghiaccio sulle pareti, impossibile da vedere da sotto (la situazione dovrebbe migliorare in settimana). Inoltre, a causa dello scongelamento ci possono essere cadute di sassi.

Non appena la neve si scioglierà la situazione ovviamente sarà migliore, ma per questo ci vorranno almeno tre settimane nelle zone appena menzionate! Attualmente la situazione è ingannevole, si può arrampicare con pantaloni corti a valle, ma non fatevi ingannare. Lo Zillertal è ben più grande del fondovalle e ci sono ancora masse di neve enormi sulle montagne!

Per fortuna ci sono molte altre zone nello Zillertal e sicuramente non vi annoierete sulle falesie che non sono a rischio di valanghe…

Il viaggio arrampicata di Raffaella Cottalorda per le falesie di Spagna, da Siurana a Margalef e Terradets, da Rodellar a Riglos, Vadiello, Alquézar, Cuenca e Albarracin, un vademecum per orientarsi e per programmare la vostra prossima vacanza.

Bene, neve all’inizio del cammino? Beh, non è proprio così… è solamente brina, comunque un freddo porco, dannazione! Sopra sole e vento, sotto nebbia: tutte le falesie di Siurana e dintorni risultavano avvolte dal freddo umido e, per farci innervosire, giusto qualche metro sopra… sole! MAMMA MIA, che nervoso! La calda Spagna non era poi così caliente, temperature severe! Solo la bella Margalef (falesia di conglomerato) ci ha lasciato indossare per qualche mezza giornata canotte e top e alla fine qualche risultato è arrivato…

Dopo giorni di nebbia, pioggia e umido solo qualche dì ci ha graziati donandoci qualche ora di sole e così, dopo aver chiuso un po’ il braccino e moschettonato qualche piccolo sogno, siamo fuggiti…. direzione di una ormai famosa grotta: la cueva de Santa Linya. Sembra incredibile, ma nei dintorni della cueva esistono una marea di altre falesie di rocce differenti che offrono arrampicate per tutti i gusti! (info. Presso il bar Torres di Ager)

Se un italiano in genere pensa che la Spagna sia un paese caldo si potrebbe rendere conto che in effetti non è proprio così: il clima spagnolo risulta infatti un clima continentale con elevate escursioni termiche, soprattutto in inverno, tra la notte ed il giorno. Spesso nella cueva la temperatura risulta meno piacevole che a Finale in pieno inverno. Il periodo ideale per l’arrampicata rimane comunque l’inverno, sperando nel sole.

Se ci si sposta leggermente verso terreni più interessanti, a soli 25 minuti da Ager si trova la bella Terradets che racchiude in una sola grande forra differenti settori, comprese molte vie lunghe. L’arrampicata si presenta molto più elegante, con canne, tacche e svasi: il settore più famoso, Les Bruixes, da la possibilità di arrampicare in tutti gli stili, ma anche qui, come nella cueva, è meglio presentarsi con un livello 7 mas per potersi divertire. L’unico grave problema di questa falesia è la nebbia che si alza dal lago sottostante, molto frequente in pieno inverno… con un po’ di fortuna la si potrà veder alzarsi verso le 12 (ora in cui la falesia inizia ad andare al sole.

Passeggiando per l’Aragon… nella bella provincia di Huesca, dove compaiono le montagne della Spagna, i Pirenei, si trovano forse non tantissime falesie chiodate, ma sicuramente tanta roccia, delle migliori per l’arrampicata sportiva e le vie lunghe a spit: caliza y conglomerado dominano! Pare che, oltre a Rodellar, esistano altre belle falesie: Riglos, Vadiello, Alquézar e per l’estate – entrando più verso i monti, direzione Spagna – non escluderei di passare nella valle che da Ainsa-Sobrarbe sale in direzione di Bielsa, là roccia e fresco non mancano! L’ultimo spot che troviamo prima del tunnel di Bielsa in direzione Francia è una falesia a canne, stile Spagna, chiodata però da un equipe francese.

Qualche osservazione su Alquézar… il periodo migliore per frequentare queste falesie è sicuramente la primavera, stagione in cui la piana di Huesca e la serra de Guara incomincia a fiorire (inizio Marzo) e ci si rende finalmente conto del perché gli spagnoli hanno così tanta carenza d’acqua: ci sono campi e coltivazioni, frutteti e oliveti ovunque.
Ritornando all’arrampicata, i settori si trovano tutti intorno al paese e sono facilmente trovabili e riconoscibili, vi sono muri verticali a buchi con vie piuttosto storiche e alle volte un po’ patinate, grotte veramente molto strapiombanti con, alle volte, un uso spropositato della sica.
Il paese è molto tranquillo ed è la principale meta di turismo di tutta la serra de Guara, infatti nel borgo si possono trovare due rifugi, alberghi e case in affitto in quantità, gli unici problemi che si possono avere se non si prenota in anticipo riguardano il periodo della Semana Santa dove, sembra incredibile, ma pare tutto prenotato.

Le falesie di Vadiello si trovano a soli 15 Km da Huesca in una zona molto bella e particolare, dove i colori mi ricordano il mio mare, infatti in fondo alla valle si trova una diga costruita nel conglomerato e circondata da vegetazione mediterranea, diverse vie facili sono chiodate in posti molto suggestivi, le falesie hard sono invece a pochi metri dalla strada. I settori più interessanti sono quelli della Caverna, Los Bombos e la Pared del muerto (a 10 m dalla strada), l’arrampicata è sia su calcare che su conglomerato il secondo risulta essere più interessante nelle ve lunghe che non nelle falesie.

Forse Cuenca è una delle falesie più storiche e conosciute dai tempi dei tempi: è bella! Il suo fascino sta nella città, nella storia, nella leggenda e nell’arrampicata, ma anche in tutte le altre attività che accompagnano la vita del capoluogo. Questa magnifica regione cantata nelle avventure di Don Chischiotte è un luogo da relax, la stessa città offre luoghi verdi alternati a zone di traffico cittadino e zone pedonali di solo turismo, la città vecchia domina la nuova.
Le falesie, piuttosto severe e con prese tendinee (biditi, biditi e monoditi) si possono raggiungere anche in bicicletta o a piedi e si trovano (le principali) nei due canyon che conducono alla città (Hoz de Jucar e Hoz de Huecar).

Albarracin è l’unica zona di blocchi che abbiamo visitato degna di essere ricordata. E’ il regno della famosa arenaria rossa, tanto famosa e bella quanto costosa per alloggiare, pare che per due sole persone il dormire sia molto dispendioso a meno che non si disponga di Camper o furgoni. Per trovare informazioni arrampicatorie e non, è bene informarsi andando a prendere una birra al Mulino del Gatto, locale affascinante, anche solo per una visita a mo’ di museo.

Bielsa
Per raggiungere la falesia: (dalla Francia) 5 Km dopo Bielsa la strada attraversa un ponte subito dopo si può osservare un canyon che scende sulla sinistra, posteggiare a bordo strada. Seguire un sentiero che risale il canyon, dopo pochi minuti si trova una piccola barra rocciosa da lì prendere alla sua sinistra una ferrata che conduce fino alla falesia. Attenzione chiodo français! 🙂

Vadiello
Il posto più vicino e con più offerta per alloggiare è Huesca, a Vadiello non esistono strutture ricettive per il turista.
Uno dei settori più gettonati dai locals è la caverna, facilmente raggiungibile, il parcheggio si trova sulla sinistra prima del primo tunnel che si incontra e il sentiero di avvicinamento scende sulla destra in direzione del canyon: 5min con alcuni metri di corda fissa.

Cuenca
Tanti affittacamere e Hostal non economicissimi 15/20 € a testa. Altrimenti uscendo un po’ dalla città, si trova Casa Soqui a Palomera (7Km da Cuenca) dove per soli 15 € (meno in caso di permanenze prolungate) si può avere una stanza da mille e una fiaba con bagno a parte e colazione molto abbondante compresa nel prezzo.

Many listed Chinese commercial banks are expanding retail banking, which has made a greater contribution to their operating incomes.

The contribution of retail banking set a record for China Merchants Bank Co Ltd, a national joint-stock commercial lender headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

By the end of June, the proportion of retail loans to total loans and advances of the group was 55.04 percent, up 61 basis points from the end of last year. The proportion of operating income of retail banking of the group reached 54.48 percent, up 4.61 percentage points year-on-year, said China Merchants Bank in its 2019 interim results announcement issued on Saturday.

“We believe the advantages of the retail banking business will be highlighted further amid economic growth downturn and faster interest rate liberalization,” wrote Li Shanshan, Xing Yanran and Lu Yilin, analysts at BOCI Research Ltd, in a report on Monday.

The monthly active users of CMB’s two main apps reached 85.11 million as of June 30, up 5.01 percent from the end of last year. Its investments in information technology reached 3.63 billion yuan ($508 million) in the first half of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 63.87 percent, or accounting for 2.81 percent of the bank’s operating income during the same period, according to the announcement.

“As the annual budget for investments in financial technology is set to be no less than 3.5 percent of the annual operating income of the company in the previous year, we can expect to see more investments in the second half of 2019,” said the BOCI Research report.

The asset quality of CMB continued to improve as the bank posted a decline in both the nonperforming loan balance and the NPL ratio during the first six months of this year.

Its NPL balance decreased by 72 basis points from the end of 2018 to 53.22 billion yuan at the end of June. Its NPL ratio also dropped 13 basis points to 1.23 percent over the same period. Meanwhile, CMB enhanced its risk resistance capability, increasing the NPL coverage ratio by 35.94 percentage points to 394.12 percent.

Net profit attributable to shareholders of the bank increased by 13.08 percent year-on-year to 50.61 billion yuan during the reporting period.

Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Co Ltd, another national joint-stock commercial lender, saw the net operating income of its retail banking increase by 12.32 percent year-on-year to 37.06 billion yuan in the first half.

As of June 30, the balance of personal savings of the group increased by 29 percent from the end of last year to 835.81 billion yuan. Over the same period, the balance of personal loans of the group rose 8 percent to 1.6 trillion yuan, accounting for 43.12 percent of the total loan balance.

The growth of the bank’s retail savings replaced its liabilities which were at higher costs, and therefore enhanced the stability of its liabilities and lowered its liability costs, said Liu Xinyi, president of SPD Bank, at a media briefing on Friday.

In the first half, the group posted 18.99 percent growth year-on-year of its operating income to 97.6 billion yuan and a 12.38 percent increase in its net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company to 32.11 billion yuan.

Bank of Jiangsu Co Ltd, a city commercial lender whose total assets reached 2.05 trillion yuan, also recorded an increase of 54.39 billion yuan in its retail loans from the end of last year to 324.92 billion yuan at the end of June. The balance of its retail loans accounted for 34 percent of its total loan balance.

Over the same period, the number of its private banking clients grew by nearly 20 percent. Private banking refers to banking, investment and other financial services provided by banks to high-net-worth individuals with sizable assets.

Benjamin Gyimah, 21, is a high school graduate working at the GS Plaza Hotel, a leading Chinese hospitality facility in Ghana’s capital.

He grew up loving Chinese movies and arts but could not understand the films without subtitles.

Now, his dream of learning Chinese is on the way to being fulfilled after he enrolled at the Confucius Institute earlier this year after his elder brother, who studied Chinese at the University of Ghana, encouraged him to do so.

“I thought Chinese was complex. But as more time passes, I love it,” he said.

Learning Chinese “is simpler than I thought. Learning Chinese is fun. I love Chinese movies, especially kung fu films”, he said.

Like many young Ghanaians who have studied Chinese, the Chinese-owned hotel where he works presents him with plenty of opportunities to interact with Chinese people.

Others, like Emelia Ansong, a local Chinese language teacher with the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast, about 146 kilometers west of the capital, are continuously improving their proficiency in the language.

Speaking about her efforts, Ansong said: “I did my bachelor’s degree in Chinese and geography. And after that, I traveled to China to do a master’s in teaching Chinese.

“Later, I got the opportunity to return to Ghana and teach Chinese at UCC.”

The Confucius Institute established its first Ghanaian campus at the University of Ghana in 2013, and the second at the university in 2016, to promote Chinese language and culture learning among Ghanaians.

“So, more opportunities are now available for people to learn Chinese,” she said.

“At the Confucius Institute at the university, we have three courses for students who are interested in learning Chinese.”

In addition to the Confucius Institute centers in the universities, the University of Ghana also runs a degree program in Chinese, giving more people the chance to learn the language.

Speaking about what drives Ghanaian youth to take up learning Chinese, Ansong said: “A lot of young Ghanaian people are curious and would like to explore the world beyond their borders.”

Nathaniel Oquaye graduated from the University of Ghana with a double major in Chinese and political science. And in 2016, he got the opportunity to study in Zhejiang province in China, where he studied Chinese language and culture for nine months.

He said that learning Chinese is a must for every young person seeking to rise in the job market.

“I think Chinese is going to become very important over the next decade,” Oquaye said.

He described Chinese artworks as beautiful, and said: “I studied a bit of calligraphy and painting.”

Now, back in Ghana, he praised the Chinese government for doing much through the embassy to reward excellent and outstanding students who study the language at the University of Ghana.

Zheng Xiaoyu, an 18-year-old woman in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, recently hit headlines in the city as she made a will to leave all the 10 houses under her name to her mother.

She is among the 200 people who have come to the Urumqi branch of the China Will Registration Center since it opened to the public on Friday.

According to the center, it expanded its branches from large eastern and southern cities to Xinjiang in the hope that it can benefit more people as the region’s population and wealth continues to grow due to more economic policy support and other services offered by the central government.

Zheng has lived with her mother since her parents divorced. She said that if she has an accident, other relatives including her father and grandparents would inherit her legacies legally. “My mother purchased these properties through years of effort, so I can’t leave them to others. A will can help me clarify the inheritance,” she said.

Zhai Wei, director of the Urumqi branch, said that making a will is not unique to the elderly.

According to Zhai, just a few days ago, an internet celebrity in her 20s came to the branch. Since she makes frequent business trips nationwide, she is afraid of having an accident.

“She has a number of virtual properties online and she wanted to let her parents know about them by making a will,” Zhai said. “Wills can help people figure out how many properties they own and avoid disputes if they have legally binding documents.”

“For those who have two houses or fewer of no more than 140 square meters and fewer than two bank accounts, we provide the service for free,” she added.

The average age of those who make a will is trending lower. According to a white paper released by the center, the average age was 71.2 last year, down from 77.4 in 2013.

By June, about 145,000 wills have been deposited at the center’s branches nationwide since its establishment in 2013.

The center now has 12 branches. Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou each have two branches, while Tianjin; Chongqing; Urumqi; Nanjing in Jiangsu province; Nanning in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region; and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, each have one.

The center hopes that by 2024, at least 600 million Chinese can better understand the need to make wills at an early age.

A Monmouth University poll released Monday shows Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders in a virtual dead heat.

However, the poll also shows that the heretofore front-runner Biden has lost ground to Warren, US senator from Massachusetts, and Sanders, US senator from Vermont. They both polled at 20 percent, with Biden at 19.

“The main takeaway from this poll is that the Democratic race has become volatile,” said Patrick Murray, who runs the polling institute at Monmouth in West Long Branch, New Jersey. “Liberal voters are starting to cast about for a candidate they can identify with. Moderate voters, who have been paying less attention, seem to be expressing doubts about Biden.”

Biden, former vice-president under Barack Obama, has had some verbal miscues on the campaign trail recently, mistaking his location in New Hampshire for Vermont and misidentifying the cities where two recent mass shootings occurred.

“But they are swinging more toward one of the left-leaning contenders with high name recognition rather than toward a lesser-known candidate who might be more in line with them politically,” Murray said.

Biden, 76, has looked to stake a more moderate ground, and his campaign has promoted him as the “most electable”, meaning the candidate who would give the Democrats the best chance to defeat Trump, 73.

 

Warren, 70, and Sanders, 77, an advocate of socialist policies, represent the progressive wing of the party.

According to the Monmouth poll, Biden has lost support over the past two months among Democrats who call themselves moderate or conservative (from 40 percent to 22 percent), with the shift among these voters accruing to both Sanders (from 10 percent to 20 percent) and Warren (from 6 percent to 16 percent). Biden also lost support among liberals (from 24 percent to 15 percent).

The poll of 800 voters included 298 people considered registered Democrats or Democratic-leaning. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 5.7 percent within that group and was conducted by telephone from Aug 16 to 20.

“It’s important to keep in mind this is just one snapshot from one poll,” Murray said. “But it does raise warning signs of increased churning in the Democratic nomination contest now that voters are starting to pay closer attention.”

The Biden campaign said in a statement that the poll was based on a relatively small sample size, and that an average of polls by RealClearPolitics has him ahead of the field, The New York Times reported.

US Senator Kamala Harris was fourth in the Monmouth poll with 8 percent. Harris had gotten a bounce in the polls in June after she called out Biden in the first debate for his opposition to busing to racially integrate schools in the 1970s.

But in the next debate, in July, Harris faced sharp criticism by another Democratic presidential candidate, US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, for her record as California attorney general. Harris has since dropped to single digits in several polls.

The Monmouth poll is one of those approved by the Democratic National Committee for deciding which candidates qualify for primary debates.

The next round of Democratic debates will be held Sept 12-13 at Texas Southern University in Houston. The 10 candidates who have already qualified for those debates are Biden, Sanders, Warren, Harris, Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey; Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana; former HUD secretary Julián Castro; Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; former representative Beto O’Rourke of Texas; and entrepreneur Andrew Yang, whose parents were born in Taiwan.

Suerte e Esperanza… Si riparte per la parete.

Prima di parlarvi delle nostre agguerrite intenzioni, ringrazio da
parte di Giovanni tutte le mail che abbiamo ricevuto e che gli hanno
fatto piacere. Lui sta decisamente meglio e anche se si trova con due
mani bloccate non ha perso mai la voglia di sorridere e di scherzare
sulla mala sorte. Giovedì rientrerà in Italia.

Cari amici, dopo alcuni giorni di riposo e di riflessione abbiamo
deciso di riprovare. Sappiamo che senza Giovanni sarà più difficile, ma
crediamo di potercela ancora fare. Siamo motivati e vogliamo portare a
termine questa avventura e scalare questa parete immensa.

Con Cristian e Mario, ci siamo consultati, e abbiamo valutato i
pericoli oggettivi che, dopo l’incidente a Maspes nel 2006 e ora a
Giovanni, sono evidenti a tutti e abbiamo deciso di aspettare una
finestra di buon tempo con temperature più basse per evitare frane di
roccia o crolli di ghiaccio.

Altra soluzione potrebbe esser quella di arrampicare di notte ma per
ora non possiamo anticipare nulla. So che qualcuno potrebbe non capire
questa decisione che può sembrare forzata di fronte a ciò che è appena

China will soon roll out a number of substantive measures to deepen capital market reforms, following the best international practices, the country’s top securities regulator said on Sunday.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission met on Sunday to discuss and refine a plan to deepen capital market reforms and said the plan has largely taken shape, financial news agency yicai.com reported.

Under the plan, authorities will try to adopt the revised Securities Law by the end of this year and discuss establishing a system for securities class action lawsuits with Chinese characteristics, substantially elevating the cost listed firms would face for engaging in fraudulent floats and disclosures.

Pilot fundamental institutional arrangements that proved effective on the new tech-focused STAR Market-covering issuance, listing, trading and information disclosure reforms-will also be gradually implemented on other submarkets of China’s A-share market, according to the plan.

Securities regulators will also carry out an action plan to achieve improvements in the quality of listed firms over the next three to five years and make it easier for more mid to long-term funds to invest in the A-share market.

The regulatory commission said it learned from the best international practices how to formulate the plan and will accelerate high-standard capital market opening-up to further advance reforms.

Dong Dengxin, director of Wuhan University of Science and Technology’s Finance and Securities Institute, told China Daily that the plan will help boost the confidence of international investors, who are seeking shelter amid a turbulent global financial market, in Chinese shares.

Specifically, the adoption of the revised Securities Law will represent a “watershed” in the A-share market’s history, Dong said.

Meanwhile, the implementation of the registration-based initial public offering system, which is currently being piloted on the STAR Market and later across all submarkets, will be a significant milestone in A-share market internationalization, according to Dong.

President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, announced in November that China would launch the STAR Market and pilot the registration-based IPO system. The new market debuted on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on July 22.

A spokesperson for the regulatory commission said on Sunday that Chinese capital markets’ ability to withstand external shocks has notably strengthened and that the escalation in the trade tension with the United States is within expectation, yicai.com reported.

The regulatory commission will continue to step up reform efforts and spur market vitality, aiming for a steady and healthy long-term development of the capital markets, according to the spokesperson.

The regulatory commission set up a leadership team for comprehensively deepening capital market reforms in March and has held more than 10 meetings to discuss measures for 11 major aspects of reform.

Jeremy Lin, the first Asian-American to win an NBA championship, will suit up for the China Basketball Association’s Beijing Shougang Ducks next season.

News of Lin’s signing instantly went viral on Chinese social media after the Ducks made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon. Within an hour, related topics had been viewed over 70 million times on Weibo.
