Atletico Madrid close in on €60m Rodrigo deal

The Valencia forward will return to the Spanish capital as he prepares to become the latest addition to Diego Simeone’s first-team squad

Atletico Madrid are set to complete a €60 million (£56m/$67m) deal to sign Valencia star Rodrigo Moreno.

Sources close to the negotiations have revealed to Goal that a move is expected to become official in the next few days.

Rodrigo’s agent Jorge Mendes’s positive relationship with Valencia owner Peter Lim helped push through a deal, with the 28-year-old adding to what has already been a massive overhaul at Atleti this summer.

Both Everton and Napoli were also keen on signing the player but it’s Atleti that have won the race.

His arrival will prove timely, with Diego Simeone’s side having announced that Diego Costa suffered a thigh injury in the friendly win over Juventus that could see him miss the start of the season.

Rodrigo has spent the last five seasons at Valencia, and enjoyed a stellar 2017-18 campaign, scoring 16 goals and adding four assists in La Liga.

That helped Los Che to secure a fourth-placed finish and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2015-16.

His goal total dropped last season, but Rodrigo still managed eight goals while adding six assists for Valencia, who finished fourth once again, while chipping in with two Europa League strikes as his side made the semi-final.

Rodrigo also scored the decisive second goal for Valencia as they defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the Copa del Rey final.

Originally born in Brazil, Rodrigo has featured for Spain at international level, and has been capped 17 times, scoring five goals.

He will add to a squad that has seen a major overhaul this summer, with star forward Antoine Griezmann making his long-rumoured departure for Barcelona, while Lucas Hernandez headed to Bayern Munich, Diego Godin to Inter and Rodri to Manchester City.

Simeone’s side have, however, brought in many high-profile reinforcements, with the biggest name being former Benfica star Joao Felix, who has enjoyed a hugely productive pre-season.

Rodrigo originally came through Real Madrid’s youth system, featuring for their B and C squads though he never made a first-team appearance for the club.

The arrival of the former Bolton Wanderers loanee will likely to see Atleti step up their attempts to offload Nicola Kalinic and Angel Correa, meanwhile, with Rodrigo adding to an attacking line that includes the likes of Alvaro Morata, Costa, Felix, Thomas Lemar and Vitolo.

'He had a big arse' – Moyes scouted Maguire while he was Man Utd boss but didn't feel they needed him

The Scot admits to having been aware of the defender’s potential during his time at Old Trafford, but claims there was never any chance to sign him

David Moyes has claimed Harry Maguire “had a big arse” after he watched him play while he was Manchester United boss but insists he chose not to try to sign him as he already had plenty of centre-backs at the club.

It has been suggested, on the back of a record-breaking transfer in 2019, that the Red Devils could have landed the £80 million ($96m) defender some years ago.

Moyes was said to have snubbed the opportunity to sign Maguire for just £4m when charged with the task of succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

The Scot admits to being aware of the potential of the former Sheffield United man, but insists that, while he did go to watch him live, he didn’t feel there was a need to buy him at the time.

Moyes told talkSPORT: “We didn’t try to sign him but we flagged him up at that time.

“I was very aware of the players in the lower leagues and had a made good career out of bringing them to Everton – whether that be Tim Cahill or all the ones we did through the years.

“Harry Maguire was another one I recognised. He played against Preston North End at home in a league game and I watched him and thought he played really well but at that time he was really big – he had a big arse. You thought: ‘My goodness, how big is Harry going to be’ because he was a relatively young boy at that time.

“To be fair he looks in terrific shape and he hasn’t changed at all really. When I went to United, we had [Nemanja] Vidic, Rio [Ferdinand], Jonny Evans, Michael Keane, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling so for us to go and buy another young centre-half wasn’t the biggest thing we needed at the time.

“And Harry Maguire has had to go on his journey. Sometimes the players need the journey to get to where they have to go. He might have struggled then.”

Maguire’s journey from Sheffield to Manchester has taken him via Hull and Leicester.

He got the chance to make his Red Devils bow on the opening weekend of the 2019-20 Premier League season, and caught the eye in a 4-0 victory over Chelsea.

Paul Pogba was another of those to make a telling contribution for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, with Moyes considering it to be imperative that a midfielder who continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid is retained at Old Trafford.

He added on the divisive World Cup winner: “I think Manchester United should keep Pogba because he is one the top players in the world.

“He has got really good ability. He might have just needed a bit of time to settle. I think it has been unsettling because of the way him or his agent have come out and said he wants to move again.

“But if you look at Manchester United’s midfield on Sunday, not having Paul Pogba would have made them much weaker.”

Shanghai show highlights genius of Victor Hugo

An exhibition featuring French writer Victor Hugo’s celebrated creations and related works will take place at the Pearl Art Museum in Shanghai from Tuesday through Dec 1.

The exhibition, titled Victor Hugo: The Inner World of a Genius, will feature over 200 works connected to the writer, including paintings, photos and books, in five exhibition areas according to their time of creation and cultural significance.

“The exhibition will cover almost every aspect of the legendary life of Hugo, allowing audiences to gain a vivid and comprehensive understanding of this preeminent literary figure,” says Li Dandan, curator of the show and the executive director of the Pearl Art Museum.

Victor Hugo (1802-85) was a leading figure and a representative of the Romantic Movement in the 19th century and one of the greatest writers in the history of world literature. Hugo’s works were among early translations of foreign literature in China.

The exhibition will focus on Hugo’s life journey and his major works in a chronological order, offering the audience an insight into the Parisian literary master’s world-view.

Three of Hugo’s well-known masterpieces, Notre-Dame de Paris, Les Miserables and Quatrevingt-treize, are among the highlights of the show.

“They are representative of Hugo’s works created during different periods, demonstrating his profound influence on other artists and the era he lived in,” says Li.

The exhibition will also display a selection of works by Hugo as a painter and decorative artist.

“For the first time, Chinese audiences will be able to learn about Hugo’s work in fields other than literature, and help them gain an understanding of the inner world of this genius,” she says.

Gun violence: victims of US shootings

More than 36,000 people shot to death every year on average in the country

WASHINGTON – A boy accidentally killed by his father during a fishing trip in Montana. A woman dead and her husband behind bars after a single gunshot in a Dallas hotel room. A teenager cut down on his porch on a warm day in Washington state.

During the week bookended by mass shootings in Gilroy, California; El Paso, Texas; and Dayton, Ohio, in which gunmen killed 34 people, hundreds of others were shot to death across 47 US states, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit group that uses local news and police reports to track gun incidents.

The deaths were the sort of everyday murders, suicides and accidents that may not grab the headlines of mass shootings, but in many ways show the true toll of the gun violence endemic to the United States.

More than 36,000 people are shot to death every year on average in the US, according to US government data compiled by the gun-control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety. That works out to about 100 a day. Suicides account for more than 60 percent of those deaths. Slightly more than a third are homicides.

Here are three of the victims of deadly shootings during the week between the attack in Gilroy and the attack in Dayton:

Sunday, July 28

Soon after a gunman opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, Steven Parsons was sitting in a parked car with two other people 1,500 miles (2414 kilometers) away in an alley in Kansas City, Missouri.

The 27-year-old died there along with another man, Montae Robinson, shot by a gunman who is still at large, police said. The third person in the car is being sought by police for questioning but is not a suspect.

“I have a wedding dress in my closet that I will never wear,” Marissa Tantillo said during Parsons’ funeral service on Wednesday evening at a chapel in Blue Springs.

They had two daughters together and planned to marry in a few months. She urged mourners never to take their loved ones for granted. “All I want you to do is hold your husband a little closer, hold your wife a little tighter,” she said.

Monday, July 29

Guests at the Hotel ZaZa in Dallas heard a commotion and screams from the room where Jacqueline Rose Parguian and her husband, Peter Nicholas, were staying on Monday night.

When hotel security staff knocked on the door, no one answered. Paramedics, responding to a 911 call about a woman loudly in distress and a report of a possible drug overdose, listened to the commotion outside as they waited for police to arrive, per department rules. A noisy hour passed. A gunshot rang out. The arguing stopped. Parguian was dead.

“Jackie had a passion for beauty,” an obituary published by Parguian’s family said. She pursued a degree in cosmetology and graduated from a Dallas beauty school in 2016.

She loved 1990s pop music and collected concert tickets in a box of memories. One of six children, she was known for checking in frequently with her younger siblings.

She was 32. Her sons are ages 2 and 8.

Nicholas, 30, was arrested and charged with his wife’s murder. He was later released on a $250,000 bond. An attorney for Nicholas did not respond to a request for comment.

Tuesday, July 30

It was a warm day in Tacoma, Washington, and Jamone Pratt was out on a friend’s front porch when he was shot in the head. Witnesses told police they saw at least two cars speeding away. Pratt was 16 years old.

Police have made no arrests. Jamone’s mother, Kyndal Pierce, has filled her Facebook page with anguished posts, saying she’s finding it hard to go on without her eldest son, a “tall and skinny” kid the family called Junior and who was inseparable from his sister.

A schoolmate of Jamone’s who makes music under the name Kiing-Calebb recorded a rap tribute to his friend called MonesWrld. The lyrics include oblique references to gang rivalries.

“Thought you were going to make it to 18,” the lyrics went. “All you wanted were your dreams/but now you fly high.”

New envoy to Russia to boost nations’ unity

Former vice-foreign minister, regional expert will help foster peace, stability

Beijing’s new ambassador to Moscow, Zhang Hanhui, has assumed his office, reinforcing efforts of the two global powers to beef up their role in navigating hot spot issues and championing stability, analysts said.

The new role for Zhang, a veteran diplomat, former vice-foreign minister and expert on Russia and Central Asia, also shows the priority China places on robust coordination with its neighbor as well as its commitment to policy continuity, they said.

Zhang presented his credentials to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday. Li Hui served as top envoy to Russia for 10 years and recently left the job.

Like his predecessor, Zhang served as an assistant foreign minister and vice-foreign minister before leading the embassy in Moscow.

Such appointments showcase the “great importance” China attaches to countries such as the United States, Russia and Japan, Singapore-based newspaper Lianhe Zaobao said.

Zhang, 55, started his diplomatic career in 1988. His posts included Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He formerly headed the Foreign Ministry’s Department of European-Central Asian Affairs.

Speaking to the media on his arrival in Moscow on Saturday, Zhang said China-Russia relations are crucial to both countries and “are significant in maintaining global peace and stability as well”. Beijing and Moscow have been working together to boost global governance and mediate thorny regional issues.

In June, President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, attended the China-Russia-India leaders meeting and a China-Russia-Mongolia meeting on the sidelines of regional or international gatherings.

Sun Zhuangzhi, head of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said China-Russia ties are being empowered and consolidated by their close and effective coordination in the global arena.

The political mutual trust between the two countries is advancing alongside their reinforced trust in military affairs, Sun added.

On July 23, the air forces of the two countries conducted their first joint airspace strategic patrol in the Northeast Asian region.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in talks with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi last month that the two countries’ strategic coordination is strong and can withstand blows from any external sources.

Ji Zhiye, former president of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, said both countries seek an environment to enable their own development through reinforcing their strategic coordination.

Both nations are faced with factors that challenge globalization and multilateralism, and they both must confront rampant terrorism and extremism, Ji said.

Oleg Timofeev, an associate professor of China studies at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, said Zhang has as much experience as his predecessor in handling regional affairs and his new role will give a major boost to bilateral ties.

The nations’ two-way trade in the first seven months of the year registered year-on-year growth of 4.7 percent, standing at $61.1 billion, according to Chinese customs officials.

The two countries are promoting links between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union, demonstrating efforts by China and Russia to work together to face global challenges, said Sergei Lousianin, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Under the threats of unilateralism, protectionism and hegemonism, they continue to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind and to inject positive energy into the peace and stability of the world, he said.

Monetary policy to remain prudent in H2

China’s monetary authority will maintain a prudent monetary policy in the second half of this year, although some external factors may add to economic growth pressure, according to the country’s central bank.

The growth pace of M2, a broad measure of money supply that covers cash in circulation and all deposits, slowed to 8.1 percent by the end of July, its lowest level since December 2018, data from the People’s Bank of China, the central bank, said on Monday.

New yuan-denominated loans stood at 1.06 trillion yuan ($150.06 billion) in July, down from 1.66 trillion yuan in June and 1.18 trillion yuan in May, falling short of analysts’ expectations, according to the official data.

Total social financing, which includes off-balance sheet forms of financing such as initial public offerings and loans from trust companies, fell to 1.01 trillion yuan in July, from 2.26 trillion yuan in June, the central bank reported.

All the fresh financial indicators have indicated a cautious policy stance by the central bank, without further monetary easing since the second half, said analysts.

In the latest quarterly issued monetary policy report, the central bank said it would keep its prudent monetary policy “neither too tight nor too loose” and make adjustments in a timely and moderate manner in the July-to-December period.

Measures will also be taken, to keep liquidity at a reasonable and ample level, as “counter-cyclical adjustments” to stabilize economic growth in the following months, it said.

China’s central bank didn’t follow some other central banks across the globe by lowering interest rates. Central banks in New Zealand, Thailand and India announced larger-than-expected interest rate cuts last week, following the US Federal Reserve’s rate-cut decision, getting prepared for a worsening global economic outlook.

For China, further monetary policy easing is not recommended as the actions already taken have been sufficient, are still being taking effect, and core inflation remains anchored, said a report from the International Monetary Fund released on Friday in Washington.

Chinese kids groomed for studies abroad via overseas summer camps

Zhou Xiaodong, a deputy general manager of an enterprise in Wuhan, Hubei province, has been thinking about sending his son Zhou Zixuan to an overseas university since he was just a seventh-grade student.

In order to help his son get accustomed to life and studies overseas in advance, Zhou last year enrolled him in a summer camp in the United States, which Zhou said “changed his son greatly”.

His son was initially reluctant to study abroad. However, after returning from the summer camp, he told Zhou that he hoped to attend a foreign university in the future.

“He gained a lot of knowledge about the lifestyle of his peers overseas, such as how they play and learn. He made some foreign friends and improved his ability to interact with people,” Zhou said.

As Chinese children are heading abroad for studies at a very young age, participating in summer camps overseas before formally starting their studies there has become a common way for Chinese students to get academically or mentally prepared, according to Shao Yuan, marketing director of KnowledgeLink Group Inc, a US-based education and consulting company.

The ongoing summer vacation has so far seen at least 500 Chinese students taking part in summer camps organized by the company overseas. The camps are themed on science, technology, engineering, arts and math, or project-based learning.

“By familiarizing young students with the international study and living environment in advance, summer camps are deemed by many Chinese parents as a good way to gear up their children for overseas study in the future,” she said.

Kevin Wang, marketing director of Global Tour Study at New Oriental Education& Technology Group, said such overseas summer camps, usually costing at least 30,000 yuan ($4,250) each trip, have been well-received by some wealthy parents.

Students participating in these programs are mostly aged between 10 and 18.

The younger ones-primary school students-usually choose camps in nearer destinations like Japan and Singapore, while those in middle school who are more linguistically capable and can better take care of themselves, take part in programs in farther countries like the United Kingdom and the US, Wang said.

“Generally speaking, a majority of parents choosing summer camps overseas have a long-term plan, such as study or even emigrating overseas, for their children. They hope the children could improve language proficiency and enrich travel experience by participating in such summer camps,” he added.

Shao said by immersing in an authentically exotic environment for one week or up to one month, students are able to get an all-round experience on what overseas study is like. It also helps students identify whether they are suitable for the study.

Earlier this month, Zhang Xin, a resident of Zhengzhou, Henan province, sent her 16-year-old daughter to St. Mary’s School, Oregon, US, for a one-week summer camp themed on robotics and programming.

There, together with peers from different countries and backgrounds, Zhang’s daughter, Ma Saiyudi, engaged herself in a wide range of courses and activities, including making robots, climbing mountains and hiking through jungles.

Zhang said before setting out for the summer camp, her daughter hadn’t been very sure whether to pursue studies abroad in the future because she doubted whether she could well adapt to life and study in a foreign country.

After the weeklong trip, she was quite determined. She loved the teaching approach and the atmosphere there.

“Moreover, with such an experience, an educational institution overseas is no longer a completely new environment for my daughter,” Zhang said. “I believe she will get used to her new life faster in the future.”

Compared with the longer distance and more expensive travel to a foreign country, many parents, especially of children aged under 10, preferred domestic trips for their children.

These trips, organized mostly by travel agencies or education companies, cover themes such as improving children’s artistic or cultural competence, training their physical or mental strengths and so on, according to EF Education First China, a Sweden-based education company.

Kevin Wang from New Oriental said the domestic summer camps seem to be more relaxing, as many parents treat such trips during summer holidays as an opportunity for their overburdened children to have a break at an affordable cost.

“In the eyes of this group of parents, entertainment is of equal importance to learning and an ideal program is one that combines the two and finds balance between the two,” he said, adding that summer camps that expose children to history and culture and those engaging children in nature have been particularly popular in recent years.

Yu Xiaotian, a mother of a seventh-grader in Beijing, has been enrolling her son in domestic summer camps almost every summer vacation in the past few years. Through these trips, Yu’s son has been to grasslands in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Erhai Lake in Southwest China’s Yunnan province and Baiyangdian in Hebei province.

“During the trips, my son was asked to do some ‘mini-research’, which I think helped him gain knowledge on and deepen understanding of the places he visited. For kids of his age, such summer camps are more meaningful than just traveling somewhere as a tourist,” she said, adding that she’s looking for a program for her son this summer.

'I hope that he stays with Ajax' – Ten Hag optimistic that Real Madrid target Van de Beek will remain

It appears the Netherlands star will remain in Amsterdam amid interest from the Spanish capital giants

Real Madrid target Donny van de Beek could stay at Ajax despite interest from Zinedine Zidane’s team, according to the Eredivise champions’ coach Erik ten Hag.

The 22-year-old midfielder has already confirmed Madrid are in talks with Ajax over his transfer as the La Liga giants struggle to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

However, it seems the Netherlands international Van de Beek will remain in Amsterdam – with a current update from Ten Hag suggesting a transfer wasn’t close.

“[Van de Beek] only dedicates himself to playing,” Ten Hag said ahead of Tuesday’s second leg against PAOK, with the third-round Champions League qualifier locked at 2-2.

“I guess and I hope that he stays with us this season.

“Otherwise, I will hear from [Ajax’s director of football,] Marc Overmars.”

Van de Beek starred as Ajax earned a draw away to PAOK in the opening leg in Thessaloniki, while he has managed two goals and two assists in two Eredivisie matches this season.

His former teammate Frenkie de Jong, who joined Madrid’s rivals Barcelona last month, says he believes Van de Beek can be a success at the Santiago Bernabeu .

“I would prefer him to stay at Ajax because I wouldn’t have him as an opponent and Ajax would stay strong,” De Jong said.

“But, no, of course, when it’s all settled, and if he moves to Madrid, I am really happy for him. I think he deserves it. He’s a great player. Then I will go see him in Spain!”

“I am pretty sure he has the ability.

“I think he showed it last season in the Champions League, especially in the knockout rounds.

“I think he has shown to the world and everyone in Europe he has the ability to play at that level.”

Van de Beek made 57 appearances for Ajax in 2018-19, scoring 17 goals and supplying 13 assists as Ten Hag’s men clinched an Eredivisie and KNVB Beker double and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

If Ajax manage to overcome PAOK in their third-round Champions League qualifier, they will still have to win one more two-leg match between August 20-28 to make the group stage of the main tournament.

Joao Felix can't escape pressure to deliver at Atletico Madrid – Mourinho

Age will be no excuse if the youngster does not propel his new club towards major trophies, says the former Manchester United manager

Jose Mourinho believes Joao Felix’s huge price tag means he must produce the goods at Atletico Madrid despite his tender years.

The 19-year-old forward joined Diego Simeone’s Atletico from Benfica in a €126 million (£117m/$141m) move last month and has turned in some dazzling pre-season displays.

In addition, he must step in to help fill a major void in attack following Antoine Griezmann’s long-anticipated move to La Liga rivals Barcelona eventually coming to fruition.

As such, his famed Portuguese compatriot Mourinho believes there will be a demand for instant results regardless of his youth.

“He has a challenge due to the extent of his talent and because of the investment the club have made on him,” Mourinho told the Portuguese Football Federation’s (FPF) television channel, Canal 11.

“I believe that he can’t escape this responsibility. It doesn’t matter if he’s 18, 20 or 25.

“What matters is his talent and the responsibility he has.”

That responsibility extends to spearheading a challenge for the top honours in Spain and Europe, according to Mourinho.

Despite losing a bevy of big names in Lucas Hernandez, Rodri, Diego Godin and Griezmann, Atletico have reinforced impressively.

Kieran Trippier, Marcos Llorente and Hector Herrera are among those to have bolstered Simeone’s squad as the club have aimed to reinvest heavily following those high-profile departures.

And as such, Mourinho feels Atletico must now look to match Spain’s heavyweight duo of Real Madrid and Barca, despite a summer of transition, to cement their status on the level of their rivals.

“Atletico Madrid’s level of investment leaves them with responsibility to fight for the Champions League and La Liga,” he said.

“It’s clear that Barcelona and Real Madrid have to be there because of their power, financial capability, culture and quality.

“Atletico in recent years have been without this responsibility, but the level of investment they’ve made is incredible.

“It’s time to say, ‘We’re here, we’re big, we want to be big and we are here to win’.”

Atletico begin their La Liga campaign at home to Getafe on Sunday.

Mexicans Abroad: Lozano leaves field injured as Napoli rumors intensify, Jimenez scores again in Europa League

The El Tri winger took a knock but should be good to move to Serie A, while the Wolves forward continues to shine on the continent

Hirving Lozano started for PSV once again, but it wasn’t the return to the XI he wanted.

The Mexican winger, who has been held out of recent contests – officially because of the manager’s decision but unofficially ahead of a PSV club-record sale to Napoli – started PSV’s 3-1 victory over ADO Den Haag but had to be helped off the field in the second half and was replaced.

On a shot in the 50th minute, Lozano had the effort blocked and awkwardly made contact with the ball and the defender. He was unable to continue. PSV coach Mark van Bommel said after the match that Lozano actually had been carrying a knock from a first-half incident with the collision in the box only the exacerbating force. However, the initial outlook is that the 24-year-old will be back to full fitness in no time.

That’s good news for everyone, with the Serie A club reportedly set to make a move worth more than €40 million ($44.85 million/£37.14 million) to sign the rising star.

But Erick Gutierrez shouldn’t be overlooked. Lozano’s teammate at both PSV and Pachuca looks to be pushing into van Bommel’s XI after spending most of last season as a reserve. Guti started for the second consecutive match and played all 90 minutes in the midfield during the victory.

Edson Alvarez continues to seek his Ajax debut, having only starting training recently after a paperwork problem delayed his integration into the squad.

Raul Jimenez continues to tear it up for Wolves. After helping Mexico win the Gold Cup in the summer, Jimenez has hit the ground running during the English team’s quest to get into the group stage of the Europa League. After getting a pair of goals in the last round against Crusaders, the Club America product scored two more Thursday in a 4-0 win over Pyunik in Armenia. The second leg is Thursday in Wolverhampton.

Jimenez wasn’t able to add to his goal total in the Premier League opener, but no one else could score either as they opened league with a scoreless draw against Leicester City.

That was a better start to the Premier League season than Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez had. While Chicharito came off the bench for the Hammers he couldn’t help the London team avoid a 5-0 rout at the hands of Manchester City. That said, he actually had a decent chance to make it 2-1 in the 73rd minute. His effort was saved and the rebound fell to a teammate who put the shot off the post.

Porto started the season with a shock loss to Gil Vicente (a full team, not one gentleman named Gil) in which  Jesus “Tecatito” Corona played nearly an hour as the right-winger. However, the club’s attention is firmly on the Champions League. Things got off to a good start in that department both for the club and for the former (and future?) El Tri attacker. Porto went to Russia and came back with a 1-0 win against Krasnodar in which Corona started and played 85 minutes. The club hosts the deciding leg Tuesday.

And while  Guillermo Ochoa has returned back to Mexico , a Mexican remains in Belgium.  Omar Govea is regularly starting with Zulte-Waregem and put in a strong shift in a 2-0 win over Genk this weekend.
